Vista isn't gay...if you have 2GB or RAM and at least a Duel Processor your aren't taking care of your computer well.

I would suggest this, and sticking with XP if you will be using the same tower/CPU, unless that's the one you say that 'exploded'. >.> If it's a new PC, whatever you get would be nice. I'd prefer an AMD or an HP, with a processor at least up to 3.0 GHz (Mine is just that). 1+ Gig RAM would really be nice, seriously.

Oh, and for browsers, try avoiding IE. God, I hate it for lagging so much. Try using Firefox or Opera. I like FF, but I never used Opera although I heard it is much better. Although I still love Firefox for being so compatible and easy to use.

WinXP is still way better than Vista, IMO.
        agreed.

Simply download a Warez copy of windows XP 2003. 2007 sucks.. >.<
Buy a laptop from a customized company so you get all of your disks for hardware. Then wipe Vista and install XP.

            your parents dont mind ffr?

i swear, my parents yell at me almost daily cause the keytaps are "too loud and annoying"

            =/

i dunno about computers though, usb keyboard is a definate, but some you cant play one handed on, like i had keyboard troubles for a while till i switched to spread, spread doesnt cause any problems

Re: Which computer should I get?

My friend plays on a laptop keyboard and he does fine, no problems with it at all.

But if you insist on playing on a USB keyboard, I'd be wary. I bought one once and it has a mad lag when you try to repeat a key quickly. I'm sure there's a setting for that somewhere on the computer, but if you don't know where that setting is, I'd do some sort of research before you just skip out the door and buy the keyboard. Honestly, I'd try the laptop keys out first and if they work, great, you don't need a USB keyboard (unless you want one anyway, and again, then look out for laggy keyboards).

All the other specs seemed pretty well covered by the other users; at least 1 GB of RAM, 2 is nice, 4 is awesome, etc. =D

Re: Which computer should I get?

I'd recommend any type of ASUS laptop. FFR is a simply easy game to run if your PC can handle flash, so you don't need to go overkill like some of these guys are suggesting.

Now, if you're really into gaming, I'd recommend either one of these:

                --------
Note, they're all ASUS brands. Just awesome for Gaming in general, but I doubt your parents would buy that.

Just know this, any laptop currently being put out today that costs more than $699 should be able to run FFR like a charm. If it's got 512 mb of RAM installed, which is generally the bare minimum for Windows Vista, get another stick of 512 ram installed, better yet, get 2 gbs of RAM. Vista can only handle 3 gbs of ram however, so don't go overkill and get 4.

Also, you shouldn't be asking any of those "Pros" about what kind of computer they use. Chances are, Rebirth/ILoveYou/ETC, are using the computer's their parents bought them and really didn't have much of a say, lol. Any computer can handle Stepmania or FFR, seriously. I could go to my school's library and play FFR or Stepmania really well at one of their computers. (I know for sure that I Love You knows absolutely NOTHING about PCs.)

What it really comes down to, is what you want in a PC, so if all you want is to play FFR on it, then go for a simple Gateway or HP that has a cost range over $699, just make sure it has a decent processor and higher RAM.

Oh, I'd also recommend Windows XP Professional over Vista.

PM me if you find the secret.
