Eh, it's also certainly something that could be done to cook up an appropriate reward for people who've taken the time to AAA all the really out of sync stuff, in order to make it not too much of a blow.
I just really don't like songs where the way to AAA them is to turn the sound off, because if you actually have a developed sense of timing and rythem, playing along with the music simply doesn't work. It's almost punishing you for having actually developed skill and timing. Further, if someone submitted a stepfile today that was -stepped- for hitting notes directly on beat, but the actual arrows were way off, it would just be flat denied. I'm all for preserving the past, but when the past doesn't actually meet the quality standards that exist, it just lowers the visible quality of the site for new people, for whom nostalgia doesn't overrule the frusteration.
