Chardish and I have both contacted major artists. Chardish MUCH moreso than I. He's done so for 2+ years...
and you can see how many we have... a few major scores like Delirium, but nothing big mainstream.
But, you are more than welcome to try.
PS - Royalties... just like music being played on the radio. Every time a song is played on the radio, the people behind that song get a few cents. Or every download off of iTunes gives something like .57 or .63... I forget the exact number... to the people behind the song.
And if you want to contact those big businesses... you're going to need a letter a lot better than what I have.
PPS - I had a professor last semester who is upper management at UMG (Universal Music Group... the largest record label in the US). I talked to him about how realistic it would be to get any of UMGs artists onto FFR. He pretty much said it would be impossible. I have still tried a few specific artists, but I have yet to even receive a response, let alone permission.
