If you mean doing good on songs, then OK. And the songs I mentioned I can do good. The only songs I mentioend in there that I cant do well is Revolutionary Etude (At the end.) and also EHHS... Which if you can do EHHS good, without button mashing.. I mean ACTUALLY registering the arrows in your head, and you have been playing for half a year then OK.

CIA Rave, Delerium, etc... I can do well on...

Been playing since Oct 05. most of those months was Step Mania and some ffr during summer. So play Step mania, I found out that it directly translates to FFR skill wise yet you improve a lot faster. Oh and one important factor, your computer may just lag you. I tried, few songs on PC in college and it was tremendous difference compared to my PC at home, which sucks. (my pc that is)

Ima Maid.. I said I played SM and played Quasar on 2X speed. And yes, I noticed it DOES help you improve 10X quicker. Playing Maxx Attax and and Maxx Absolution helped improve my streaming ability, and playing Chaos japan helped me register jumpies a bit better altho the songs kinda easy...

And Quasar.. Well I havent played it enuff to help me improve...

But yeah, I guess I just have to keep playing like no tommorow every day.

A favor... Can someone send me a link to single StepFiles (LEGAL ones...) that are around Difficulty of Master and such.. I find Step Mania better cus its NOT afraid to fail you... and I find that a good way to get better is to keep pushing yourself further on a song you fail on until you get past the parts you fail, until you can pass that.

With FFR, that wont work because its more likely to see a flying cow than to fail on ANY song in FFR.

I cant really download packs because A.) No Bittorrent.. and B.) I am running on SLOW DSL (4 to 5 MB or something...) so it will takke like an hour..

I can do songs like Maxx Attax and Max Absolution fine, and give me a speedy song... Cus I like those if you can .

I have a problem registering jumps, even if its like ones on Rondo Ala Turca (V2)... And jumps within streams, especially ones left and up jumpies within streams..

i've only been playing for about 5 months so far (hehe i'm still not very good. . .but god dam is this game addictive.)
i keep hearing over, and over, that step mania helps people get better.
i just don't get it though. everytime i try stepmania, or even ffr ver.2. . .i just can't do them, even some of the easy slow songs trip me up.
i just have a horrible time adjusting to stepmania.

there's alot of great advice in this thread.
what i do, is just slowly move into harder songs. i'll find a song that i like, that seems difficult for me at the time, then play it, over and over again. i do like to keep it interesting though, so i usually find another song that's difficult for me, but not as difficult as the song i want to improve on.
i find in time. . .it just starts to come naturaly. then once you've got the song your really working on down, find an even more difficult song. . .work alot on that song, while continueing to work on your previous song.
seems to be working for me. . .though i'm still not very good at the game (i'm not worried, hehe i'm having too much fun with the game to care that i suck. )
then there's times when i just completely lose it. i'll mess up on easy parts of songs that i can fc. . .or i'll just completely not be able to do songs i'm usually able to do.
when this happens, i find the best thing to do, is to take a break. don't play ffr for a few days, then come back.
hehe this is how i get alot of my high scores. i'll take a break for a day or 2, come back to the game, and bam. . .i'm completely refreshed.
also, try not to eat pizza before playing.
          makes your hands all slippery.
^^^that's probably the best advice you'll ever get!^^^
no worries though. . .you can always eat pizza after.
          thnx.

Re: Increasing Skill and things of that Sort

It seems to me that the skill you are trying to increase is your arrow
readability(word i made up lol), since the arrows are clustered. I suggest you
play SM(Yes i know its completely different but hear me out). SM should help
out because you have to be exactly on the arrow since the sensitivity of SM is ALOT < FFR.

TRAINING REGIME XD(Worked for me over the last 3-4 weeks of summer...couldnt play anything higher than 10 before...now i can A most 12s-13s)

              1. Download/Install SM
              2. Search FFR SIMFILES for songs around 11 to 12 feet on heavy
with lots of Chaos(doesnt necessaryily mean clustered arrows so look for a good clustered one)
3a. Set song at 1.5x 2.0x or what ever xmod you are comfortable with
3b. Set MUSIC RATE to .5(this will slow the SONG down...2nd page of options i think)
note ~ you should be able to beat most any 11-12 feet with this set up ~
              4. Play the song....untill you can A/B it
              5. Change the music rate to next level(.6) and play till you get A/B
              6. repeat step 5 till 1.0 rate(the actual rate of the song)
              7. slowly lower you xmod and play until you are comfortable
              8. TURN OFF xmod and now you should be able to read teh mashed up
              arrows

              ~ hope this helps ~
