Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
oh, my bad for missing that Tass. I dont think it works anymore though, i just tried that and i got score of 0 after beating Sparta then dying on Zombie. So I guess you lucked out with the badge. :PComment

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
I am losing my mind on this badge. The later levels are just too hard for me.
I must not be using an optimal setup or something.Comment

Does anyone have a strategy for 99 bricks that's more thorough than 'try to lay blocks horizontally' ?Patashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
patashu: play it like you would tetris... make full rows with no gaps. when you start getting to 250+, consider not using the left or right edges, so you make a tower effect. i got to 530ish in a few tries, and 480-500 is pretty simple to do consistently. pretty sure i could do 600+ with a bit of luck.RIPComment

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
wanna help me figure out all the awards in zilch? i've got about 50 of the 120. and some are just really frickin' tedious... but there are whole groups that i haven't touched yet, and those are the ones i don't know how to get.
the ones where you have to get like 14,000+ ending score is just dumb. pure and stupid dumb luck, and really really really bad odds dumb luck. even getting 4000+ in 1 round is pure stupid dumb luck... i tried specifically for it in 10 straight games, and didn't get 4000+ once. got 3000-3500 a decent number of times, and then lost it because i kept trying for 4000+.
i did lose 10 in a row as well in those games... 100% zilch in all 10... AND, i still didn't get a game that went 30+ turns, let alone win a game that went 30+ turns. *sigh*.RIPComment

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
Are you kidding me? I just scored 10,000 (edit: Wow the game just ended, I have exactly 10,000) first try doing nothing but playing on expectation under risk neutrality and a modeled utility curve of ln(x)
Might have to try this as a risk-seeker and see if my expectation changes (since this isn't some sort of long-term investment, I only need to hit the higher numbers at least once to get the given award, so I may need to adjust my utility curve)Last edited by MrRubix; 11-5-2008, 12:13 AM.Comment

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
Hmm, in 99 bricks there seems to be an inherent asymmetry or slight random factor. I made a tower entirely out of symmetrical blocks (line, square, t block) placed directly on top of each other and it ended up toppling anywayPatashu makes Chiptunes in Famitracker:

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
There may be some wobble factor. I've noticed the physics are really quirky in that game and don't make much sense.Comment

Re: The Kongregate Brag Thread!
eh they make sense to me
you know about the concept of moments right? if you've got an irregularly shaped block and gravity is tugging on part of it where there isn't ground below it'll try to pull down anyway, which means it'll topple in that direction.
