Random Thoughts Posted on: July 4, 2024, at 02:27:43am [2 comments] until it gets pushed too far down i guess, though that might take a hot minute :) if you happen to be curious, you can view the comments on the default profile wall here. Posted on: July 1, 2024, at 03:35:08pm [3 comments] i've seen plenty of other people doing commentary like this so i guess i'm hopping on board! this is my first ot; i've only really played this game for a month or so since meeting some nice folks at anime north :) was on the fence as to whether i'd be put in b6 or b7 and it looks like i got lucky! not expecting to make it past the first few rounds though. round 1: Q33B (2-0-0-0) (419p/3.52) extremely fun chart that mostly fits my skillset! the tourney started right after i had a long push session so i wasn't in the best shape, but i managed two goods anyway. didn't end up beating that; i'm too inconsistent with the minijack-heavy first half. in usual fashion, i also mindblocked a few sections pretty quickly. being a polyphia fan, i had to try b5's Playing God (AAA) (141p/11.46) and got a sightread aaa! another very fun chart and really nice to play acc on. interesting polystreams towards the end, almost caught me off guard at first. hyped to see polyphia in rhythm games! also played b6's LINK[INIT] (AAA) (261p/5.74), really enjoyed the bursts (especially the flams) and general charting style. there's an oddly chokeable burst just past the halfway mark for me, but the aaa wasn't so bad to get all things considered. round 2: tarantula funk beats (3-0-1-2) (474p/2.96) those are some ridiculously fast minijacks. nabbed an sdg within a few tries or so and took several dozen more to just barely shave off a couple rgs. pretty sure i just fatigued myself playing too hard before the tourney, so it might already be nearing the end of the road for me. i quite like the charting though! took a break on the first day with b6's Escucha (AAA) (249p/5.73), got a missflag to boot leading right into the aaa. felt easier than the first round's file for me, honestly. smooth patterning and nice song choice, been having a good time playing this uprated. round 3: Cold Heart v2 (4-0-2-0) (628p/3.79) though it's longer, this file plays way more chill than last round's for me. got an sdg in a fair number of attempts again, despite some fatigue. i love this file! the patterning meshes so cleanly with the song and the intensity feels well balanced throughout. b6 has Tiferet (AAA) (239p/8.67) this round, very fun jack-oriented chart set against a characteristically groovy xi tune. i like it, though i kept losing aaa runs once the jacks gave way to the freeform ending :( no genuine complaints though. round 4: Dysnomia v2 (15-0-3-6) (811p/3.27) thought my time had come when i saw the difficulty, but there might still be hope! this chart fits very nicely with my skillset and is way too enjoyable for its own good. i don't think i'm safe with 23.4 rgs, but i think i've got a decent shot at improving that. we'll see if i pass, i've been riding the cutoff but there are a lot of capable players hiding just below. as usual i gave b6's song a go, this round's being Empty Shell (AAA) (411p/7.13). pretty standard jumpstream file with some bursts thrown in for flavor; i managed a decently clean sightread aaa despite the length. as is the trend, fun chart :) round 5: eliminated (>20.6 rg) never ended up having a good session this week which is too bad, i really felt like i had a solid chance at improving on dysnomia. all things considered though, i played better than i originally expected! i improved quite a bit even though the fatigue picked up fast towards the latter half. good luck to everyone left and see y'all again next year! o/ |
