Restoration Lake (Matthia) [5/10]
PERMS OK
SYNC OK
1:17.884-1:18.051: 16ths here, they're too clear to start the 24ths abstraction this early.
1:19.342: This 32nd makes sense, but the rest (until 1:19.926) are quite random and make for really strange rhythms.
1:26.384-1:26.717: This doesn't work, as it's 24ths sounds here and also because it doesn't match 1:15.717.
1:28.134: This jump goes to nothing.
1:28.551: Same concern as 1:17.884.
1:29.384-1:30.717: At this point there are So many abstractions that go over clear rhythms but aren't the correct quantization; here it's very clear 16ths drums but 20ths are used for the sake of arbitrarily inflating the difficulty. Abstractions are fine when the sound(s) they abstract aren't well defined for example, but this simply ends up feeling like random difficulty increases. The background sounds (as charted in the intro) are much too subtle relative to the drums to justify this approach, and that applies to quite a few abstractions in this chart.
1:35.134: Here there's nothing justifying the second jumps. (24)34 (13)21 (24)34 would be fine.
2:00.217-2:01.384: Why no 24ths polys suddenly? Same for 2:05.551-2:06.717.
2:50.717-2:52.467: This is so fast for what is basically just a basic rising white noise. Conceptually, it looks nice, but in terms of difficulty balance this pushes it a bit too much relative to the rest of the song/chart, even with the friendly trillable patterning.
3:33.328: Why the minijack...
4:04.717-4:04.884: No jumps here except the first 4th. Also no idea what the 32nds are for.
Not going into too much detail for the notes as the concern is more structural and about the general approach rather than individual spikes and errors.
This is what feels closer to a "dump chart" than an "abstract chart", where the former is essentially a majority of many different abstractions as the basis of the chart, as opposed to the latter where abstractions are either limited in variety and/or are a non-dominant element of the chart. In terms of playfeel, this shows a lot of thought went into making the patterns somewhat friendly for their speed and difficult quantizations (and their frequent changes), but ultimately this just sacrifices too much representation to gain that arbitrary difficulty and playfeel. There are very few motifs that anchor the different sections down to make them intuitive, which makes the chart feel like an endless barrage of kinda arbitrary abstractions that looked/felt nice to the stepartist. The first minute is actually really well done. Overall, this would require significant changes to the approach to make it more coherent, which might be a very difficult task for this type of song when aiming for a specific difficulty range (especially that difficult).

Restoration Lake (Matthia)
- Offset's fine.
**- Metadata contains background, banner and cdtitle information in the properties, please remove them.
The first minute feels like a slowburn to listen to, and I say this as a fellow who really likes decent buildups into the song. They're absolutely fine for what they are, and difficulty progression does makes some sense, but it feels like it's unnecessary.
39.509, 39.676, 50.217 etc. - Could move this somewhere so it doesn't create a 16th minijack in the stream, you didn't do this anywhere else in this chart.
42.217 - Move to 1?
43.467 - Reorient your stream patterning here?
45.780 - Move to 3?
1:18.551 - These two hands felt too sharp to be hands, maybe you can make them as [14] jump instead? Same deal as the next 16th hand. (addendum: it seems like it's pretty deliberate that you've used hands for this metallic hi-hats, but just going to put it out there.)
*1:20.155 etc. - Not entirely sure if these 64th jumps are worth this much accenting, given the chart's structure seems pretty explicit enough.
1:58.301 - Don't think this should create a 3-note jack on the left hand, you can move it to [23] I feel.
1:59.634 - ^ but to [13] or something along those lines.
More of the same for the 3-note jacks apply, would encourage moving them wherever necessary.
2:07.759 - Sounds like there should be a burst here? You can ditch the jumpjacks to create like a 32nd/36th bursts or whatever.
2:15.717 - Feels a bit weird to have the 16th sequence (not counting the 24ths) be on the left hand. (4th: col.1, 16th: col.1, 8th: col.2 and 16th col.2)
2:30.051 - Make this a single, can't hear a distinctive sound like the other 4th jumps every measure.
2:43.384 - Understood the jump omission here, but breaking for the flow of the former dumping is probably better to still accent this 4th a jump. Not sure how you would do that but I think you can figure something out.
*2:52.370 - This would need adjustments for the continuous grey note dumping, because not only you sped up the quantizations towards the end, and this does force a split jump which this plays absolutely brutal.
*3:33.328 - This 24th minijack is gross, please move them to 2 or somewhere else once it enters the transition later.
3:54.209 - I think this roll plays a bit much on the left hand (not that it's unnecessary), but the patterns tend to feel not getting as much as excitement for the right hand, because it's essentially kind of a pseudo jumptrill and not much else. If the jumps on 3/16th are two-handed ([14] for example), you'll get more liberties to play around the notes while retaining the repetition rather nicely I think.
3:58.092 - Watch that right-hand bias here. (I think for this last minute section tends to get heavy with the hand bias, might wanna check those too.)
I'll be honest - I think this is one of those first times where the song feels it could use like an easier chart, but I think this plays surprisingly fluid (although occasionally to a fault at times). My issues are all stemmed from more of the playability sense where, sure, the song does feel a lot lighter to do things like these, but sometimes it's on the edge of being too rigid at times. I think this is one of the problems I've had when judging Deamerai's Angel Salad, where it's deliberate, gives off nice ideas but it tends to get overboard with its chaotic accenting, mostly on a song's fault - whereas this is sort of the same thing except the song does really lend itself towards lighter layering and this is the opposite of what I'm getting.
For what it's worth, this is a unique and interesting chart for its difficulty, but it'll play so much better overall if the *'d issues are fixed (and the **'d note because it's a metadata issue). My notes on this aren't that extensive but it contributes a lot to my perception of how the group of D8 players would think of whenever a 110+ difficulty files looked like for FFR. [7*/10, Fixes Required]
Additional note: This is not a suggestion, but rather a personal opinion that I think this would still fit the bill for 110+ even if you chop the first minute of this chart off. If you want to cut the first minute then I'd be down with it as well.

Due to its 2-point difference in rating, a head judge will look over this file to give their final verdict. The "Unjudged" flag is a tentative status, so please be patient while we get a third opinion review.

This file is very interesting in how it exaggerates the song very heavily to extend it to a file of this difficulty. I think it mostly works, particularly due to how much attention is paid to playability, but I do agree with Oppie that a couple parts of the chart are pushing the limits of what degree of abstraction I am comfortable with. That said, I feel like the 110+ range is sorely lacking in charts that actually play well, and that D8+ players would likely appreciate this quite a bit. As a result, I am moving it to FR on the metadata and a bit of general cleanup/consideration of the judge notes above.
Some things I would particularly like to see addressed:
- 2:15.718: I can tell what this is for in editor, but it confused me every time I watched the file preview or played it on downrates, both due to the subtlety of the sound and how different it is vs. all the other polys in this section. It feels a bit excessive to me; I'd suggest replacing 2:15.718-2:16.051 with rolly-ish 32nds or something similar.
- 2:52.370: Agree with Mipha, this gets insanely fast and the lack of any visible quantization does not help.

FR'ed fixes:
**Removed unnecessary metadata
[1:20.051 & 1:30.717] Removed 64th jumps (slightly altered surrounding patterns for comfort)
[2:52.370] Section rework + stream is now one constant quantization
[3:33.328] Removed minijack
Other fixes:
[0:42.092] Removed awkward 16th minijack
[2:15.717] Removed 16th notes due to subtlety of sound
[3:54.051] Decreased density of left hand patterning
Personal adjustments:
[1:17.634-1:17.884] Changed patterning to match with 1:28.301-1:28.551
[1:19.342-1:20.051] Shifted this sequence up a 32nd beat; felt weird having to hit the first jump in each of the three small hand-alternating repetitions a 32nd earlier than the sound, idk why I went with that in the first place
[1:44.926] Added missing 32nd note, accompanied by 1:45.426 & 1:45.926
[2:29.384] Removed jump due to lack of accent
[3:33.384, 3:36.051, etc.] Since you can sort of hear the music "halt" for a bit in every instance, I decided to remove the two notes that come right after every hand (the 16th and 32nd) to make up for it. FWIW, I'm only making the ending section less spiky. Starting at 3:44.051, only the 32nd gets removed, keeping the 16th.
3:55.384~ onward remain unchanged.

Changes are mostly satisfactory and good enough to remove the FR.
Setting this to Accepted, though it could benefit if you can fine-tune the ending around a bit more if possible, namely 3:58.092 - I noticed it remains unchanged, and while it doesn't require much attention, it plays a bit too straining I feel.
