AEON.CRUSHER (xXOpkillerXx) [7.5/10]
- Perms, metadata, sync are good
*20.358, 20.704 - PR, should be [234]
29.589-34.815 & any other instance of this - Honestly I can't determine whether this is accurate or not. All the supposed vocals in these parts are so blurry that you can't understand if they should be stepped or not. Are these approximated?
1:22.666-1:23.127 - Trippy
*2:18.512 - Hand, not jump
2:31.435-2:32.358 - This feels a bit excessive. While not impossible to do, it definitely feels like pushing it
2:51.512 - While I get the reason for the jump there, the whole section is generally focused on speed. Placing a jump like this kinda leaves a rude fuck-up because of the [23]13421 transition
**3:00.974-3:02.300 - The instance of the minijacks to the rollwall plays really bad here due to the length of the minijacks. Fast minijacks placed on the very side columns create a much more abrasive and unpleasant transition to the rollwall. I would highly suggest to chart the minijacks on col 2 & 3 instead of 1 & 4
Very solid improvements to the file. It plays so much better and there are little to no concerns over the playability of it anymore. The only things I require/request to change is the first note (20.358, 20.704) and last note especially (3:00.974-3:02.300) since it is super unpleasant. CR for * and **

6.820 - 48ths should continue to the 16th.
7.089 - shift this 16th to col 1 or 2 since i dont think theres any musical reason to have the jack between the bursts here.
11.301 - normally dont care that much about pr but when you have syncopated rhythms like this, really should have same col implied jacks to either percussion or smthn, when the pitches are different like this having the same col on the 32nds really feels offputting to play. Same thing at 11.820, 18.685, 19.089, etc.
20.358, 20.704 - should be different hands to denote pr on the synth like at 21.051
21.781 - 24th flam is too early for the sound you're accenting
21.974 - nitpick, but if you're gonna squeeze difficulty out as much as you are with other sections, might as well have more interesting/difficult patterning here on the 32nds.
23.243 - suggest moving the 32nd trill start off of col 1 or 2 to give the left hand more breathing room here, this is kinda abrasive as is.
25.089 - should be a 32nd minitrill for consistency with 23.243. (could also change 23.243 to this, i think that'd actually be better)
25.897 - reduce this hand to a [12] jump. diff spike between 2 note and 3 note jacks at 260 is huge
27.512 - buzz is much faster and cuts off before the 24th. straight 24ths really doesn't work here.
28.781 - missing jump
29.474 - another instances where having the 8th anchors with the bursts interspersed makes the section play worse than it really needs to.
30.454 - this section is offsync
35.358 - break up the long anchor on col 1.
35.935 - break up the long anchor on col 4.
36.512 - trying to do color theory here has messed with the rhythm, transition note should be close to 36.916
40.089 - both this 8th and the 4th after are off-sync (late) due to the bpm changes for the colors.
44.358 - all of these are the same percussion/vocal sample repetitions. i get using 8th layering to make this super technical and increase density w/o straight up forcing jumpglits/jumpjacks or w/e, but i personal really dislike how its used here.
46.320 - really recommend shifting the left hand jacks to col 1 so that the transition ends on the stronger finger, [12]2[134] at this speed is really rough.
49.551 - same thing. could also mirror this to have better balance between hand transitions as well.
54.589 - jumpgluts instead of going for separate hand emphasis would let you balance out anchors better
55.320 - either change this to a color note to denote the fast burst or actually step the full burst, having these 48ths just feel like the cut out randomly doesn't really work.
1:00.947 - this section works wayyy better tbh, you might wanna consider redoing the previous sections w the punchy kicks kinda like this one. You could even add in the 16ths to the hihats if you really wanna make this really really hard while still making the structure coherent.
1:07.512 - at this point ill just go ahead and say please change these to jumpgluts, the 12th triple feel is completely lost by having you do [34][12][12] and having the motion on separate hands
1:05.358 - real headscratcher that this section doesn't have some super difficult technical jack pattern given what you did at 44.358. this section feels very underwhelming given what you've done previously. given that the music is also super intense here still, maybe add the 8th layering on col 1 to force an oht while keeping the right hand active with a [13]2[13]2 pattern, etc.
1:10.204 - ^ same thing
1:11.474 - these are so much less intense than the hits at 1:12.339 and 12:12.801, seems strange that you elected to go for jumpjacks here and layered single jacks later.
1:12.512 - probably need to use a faster rhythm like at 1:12.974 for this, the drop from 32nds straight down to 24ths feels jarring.
1:16.897 - recommend layering the 16ths to show the percussion adding on to the synth here.
1:17.127 - suggest dropping the hand to a jump here and buffing the 8th at 1:17.358 to a hand since it is much louder.
1:19.724 - missing 16th
1:22.781 - should be a jump. you'll have to readjust pattern to account for this.
1:28.089 - change the jump here, having the jump share the same keys as the prior hand feels odd since the sound is actively changing. suggest [13] and changing the hand after to [234].
1:36.281 - same comments as earlier section where this occurs.
1:38.243 - missing 8th
1:39.469 - you've used flams for vocal highlights throughout the file, should probably include here as well. happens at 1:40.349 too.
1:40.551 - missing 8th
1:43.204 - jack should be on col 3 to continue the motif you started.
1:47.358 - this just does not work. i get you're having to pick bursts to accent to avoid having this just be a jank fast burst into hand, but you should probably focus on the more prominent bursts that occur on the 8ths and remove the 24ths here. could also just use color jumps to show accenting too and just have these be 8th jumpchains.
1:48.551 - this 24th doesn't go to either of the vocal pitches in the scream.
1:50.243 - recommend just toning these down to singles, highlight of the section seems to be the really punching kicks that you've got the fast sweeps to and this feels much more tame musically by comparison.
1:53.993 - missing 16th
1:56.070 - could add the jack here for pr.
1:56.704 - highly recommend changing this jump to [13], as well as other jump after the [12]4 flams. would get rid of your long anchor problem and play so much better. As is this is just feels like a long layered anchor.
1:58.219, 1:58.450 kick attack drops off much more sharply for these hits, recommend removing the 64ths here.
1:59.397, 1:59.627 - 24ths feel too disconnected from the 4ths to show the sustained synth accent, probably better off removing these.
similar sections repeat from this section forward and the comments ive left apply to those as well.
ending 1/3rd of the chart is much more well put together. feels like more focus was put on creating a technical gauntlet rather than stringing together coherent ideas/transitions (not inherently a bad thing, but i don't think a lot of the ideas thrown together here work that well). i can see the vision and groundwork for a really interesting, technically challenging chart here, but this needs some reworking.

Stepping as a third judge review due to the 2+ point difference here - I do believe that this file has got some certain issues noticeably fixed in the previous iteration (namely, the patterning issues and gross transitions that sticks out), but I still think this file suffers with a lot of issues plagued throughout (my biggest issue is the implied anchors/minijacks that comes out of the abrasive layering this chart has). Due to this, I will uphold the reject verdict on this file, and I will focus on giving some ideas to tackle some of the issues this chart has (these are definitely not exhaustive, so you will have to figure out with the notes provided by these two judges).
-20.358 - I'm not that much of a stickler with these hands being repetitive, but I do agree the hand here should be different (namely [234]). You'd have to adjust 20.243 somewhere else so it doesn't collide into the transition later.
-23.474 - Trilling is fine, but this is effectively a 16th minijack squeezed between two hands, which is quite abrasive. I'd suggest an ascending/descending burst (like 3214[23]) or something along those lines that doesn't imply two consecutive minijacks.
-25.897 - Might be better off reducing it to a jump ([12] seems adequate).
-28.435 & 28.781 - Missing jump.
-29.243 - This is one of the few cases of the implied minijacks I've talked about earlier. Needs to be adjusted differently, the pattern that comes out of the anchor makes it incredibly frustrating to hit.
-39.815 - I don't have too much of an issue with this being colored, but from a broader point of view, this feels too right-hand biased. Every burst patterns always end up on the right side where it could have been spread out a little bit more evenly. (I don't think it does mimic any sort of PR so might be better off readjusting this section a little better)
-42.526 - Missing a note here. Also I'd like to point out that the BPM change feels weird in general, mostly they came out at the wrong timestamps.
-54.974 - Would be better off making this a jump instead.
-1:00.974 - DZ pointed out a very good idea to implement about this section and that is about the contrast between this segment and 51.743~59.127. 1:00.974 uses a strikingly similar section with the kick being very loud and prominent, yet 51.743 don't do it justice. What I'm saying is, 1:00.974 is a lot nicer to play through and you have plenty of creative liberties to play around with the patterns instead of just slapping hands for repetitive reasons. This should give you an idea on what to do with 51.743 I feel.
-1:08.358 - I might have failed myself that I didn't really notice this section being this way. DZ's right, and this is a super questionable layering decision since the sound itself isn't changing, yet the jumps only occured at 4ths. At the very least, I'd just turn into a dense jumpstream (jumps every 8th and maybe a little bit more spread out with your patterns while avoiding gigantic anchors provided by the trills you have). This also applies for 1:10.204.
-1:18.743 - For handstreams you have to be REALLY careful on anchoring patterns like this. 7-note anchor on 260bpm handstream is just way too much, and by the end of it is sandwiched between center columns to transition into.
-1:25.435 - 5-note anchoring is also a bit too much, but still a little less egregious than the note above.
-1:40.738 - Same issue with 39.815.
-1:47.267 - I'd just remove this 96th, the accent around it is very loud and this doesn't represent all that well. (same for 1:47.728)
-1:50.243 - In hindsight, the jumps are a bit much - yes, sounds are strikingly different but it's not exactly apt to have those in.
-1:59.704 - Note to 23.474 above.
-2:03.974 - I'd reorient the hands to spread out evenly rather than just using the same hands by 1.5 measures - it's definitely more interesting and less frustrating than having to longjack the same hands over and over.
-2:06.570 - I honestly hate this trill - maybe you can come up with something a little less taxing?
-2:11.185 - Same suggestion as 1:08.358.
-2:48.050 - This pattern is less interesting since it's effectively just a manipulatable jumptrill. I'd just make it an actual 12th streams that has more nuance than descending trills.
-2:51.743 - Worse offender of the 2:48.050 principle.
File itself has some minor improvements over some trivial details, but on some others it really hasn't when it matters. I'd take the notes to a tee (and I think DZ has done well to identify some of the core issues this chart has), and make the necessary changes to make it more palatable.
