Onus Regulus (jh05013) [7/10] -FR-

PERMS OK
SYNC OK

54.097: For variety, consider maybe underlayering this note to a 4 instead of (34) to highlight the dominant sound there.

57.489-1:00.083: This whole little section is confusing for a few reasons. See notes below.

58.087: Why no minijacks like at 59.684?

58.985: Ghost note, or very unclear.

59.584: Missing note.

59.983: Ghost note.

1:00.482: Same idea as 54.097. Check for other iterations if applying.

1:02.227: Closer to a ghost note. Would also make the following 4th jump a (14).

1:06.267: PR, the snare (34)s here are more dominant.

1:07.564: Bit weird PR since the melody goes AB BA yet this feels like AB AB.

1:08.562-1:09.260: Assuming the heaving hand layering goes to the melody here, this iteration is wrong. 1:08.562 should be a hand, 1:08.761 a single I imagine, and 1:08.861 a hand.

1:11.255: Probably better as a (13), not as much crash impact as the previous hands.

1:15.245: Similar PR issue as 1:07.564.

1:17.939: Missing melody note.

1:20.932: Why not repeat the same as 1:20.632? Melody is the same.

1:32.603: Why only this as a hand? Doesn't seem to have an added crash or anything that other subsequent jumps dont have.

1:35.097: Could have this as a minijack at least to distinguish it from the other 8ths. 1:38.289 would maybe have to be adjusted too.

1:53.552: Not sure what these three jumps go to; the violin isn't layered as such elsewhere even when it's as loud. The layering in this whole js section (up to 2:10.909) is a bit confusing.

2:29.763: Shouldn't be part of the jack.

2:36.447: Bit of a confusing decision to only use single notes from here to 2:42.033 as the drums buildup becomes so intense and loud.

2:44.577: PR with the following 8th doesn't really match.

This chart has pretty fun and friendly patterning for its difficulty and has a decent difficulty curve that matches the intensity here and there. There is a pretty good amount of minor issues however which do add up, mainly regarding the layering and PR. This is one of the rarer cases of a solid cleanup FR. The intro is super fun and the ending also; it's mostly what's inbetween that that needs more attention.

On second thought, I would like to cancel this submission (this is not related to the above note in any way -- I was about to write this before I saw the notification).

Edit: Here I was ranting about how the whole Schwerkraft incident impacted me negatively with regards to D8 charts. I do know that I'm overthinking it, but I'm still doing it unconsciously so I think it's better for me to stop trying to push my boundaries and hurting myself mentally, at least not before I skillboost and I actually become able to play it confidently. Or I stop overthinking it.

Rejected by request.

Coming here for a moment as a supposed 2nd judge since these type of difficulties are more within my reach / judging zone.

I think this file has solid potential to fit in the game. However I do find some difficulty issues that could use a clean up / mitigation - should you have gotten a full proper judging process to this file.

Specifically, I think the handjacks + CJ-ish hand sections in the first half are very hard-hitting for its difficulty, and could be highly unpleasant to play as a result.

Additionally, on a more subjective note, when you're doing speedy streams, try not to use too much long minijacky-ish patterns that are biased on one hand. This can also lead to potentially unfriendly/rude transitions during the streams if not balanced/executed properly.

Besides those, difficulty and patterns are mostly consistent, friendly and provide very good challenges for its level. But my honest opinion is that at its current state, I wouldn't consider this a 8+ rated file (mainly due to the 1st point above), if this is the standard you're setting for yourself with these type of files.

It can be very hard to make stuff that's way above your skill level, that's for sure. But if you ask me, I think you have a solid idea with what you're doing / how you're approaching things. Downrating also helps to optimize playtesting to your peak skill level if you're comfortable with that. You usually make excellent files and I personally enjoy seeing them if I get to judge them. As a general note, don't be afraid of experimenting. If it doesn't go according to your plan - don't take it too much to heart, it's a learning process after all.
