White Walls [Full Version] (Tru & storn42) [5/10]

PERMS OK
SYNC OK

19.136-20.025: Weird PR and layering; the guitar plays on the 8ths but the jumps are placed on the 16ths and they're PR'd as if they were the guitar.

22.810: Intentional slower quantization? The drums are 32nds here and in all the other similar iterations (4:54.021 too for example).

29.703: 32nd, not 48th.

30.132 & 30.346: Ghost flams. Nothing really justifies those.

32.667: Missing note, both crash and guitar. Arguable though given subtle guitar.

50.625-51.225: This sudden change to abstract charting the scream with 24ths makes no sense. The vocals are the same intensity since 49.425, plus the drums are much more intense.

52.087: Flam here.

59.700: Ghost note.

1:00.150: Missing note.

1:13.825: Why a minijack on this note? The one right after into the 4th makes sense but this seems arbitrary.

1:14.025-1:15.225: This is still 12ths, no 16ths.

1:30.259: Missing note.

1:25.293: Aren't the jumps going to the snares in this section? Why is this a single and 1:25.431 a jump? Confusing layering. Check 1:45.156 too.

1:30.259 & 1:50.121: Missing notes, there's drum and guitar.

1:35.500-1:35.707: 16ths. Check 1:55.362 too.

2:15.054: Missing note.

2:17.604 & 2:18.054: Only these two notes should have a flam here, the rest should be jumps. Also the flams are 32nds. Same applies for the other flams in this section like 2:21.354 etc. Double check the entire section.

2:25.404: No flams here.

2:30.876: Ghost note, this goes at 2:30.729.

2:39.504: Again, these flams go to nothing (all of them this time).

2:44.454: 32nd, and just this one has a flam. Will stop mentioning the similar problematic 48ths sections from here since there are too many.

3:14.491: This doesn't work. It's not consistent with anything else so far.

3:17.858: Missing drum note.

3:558: Missing note, drums.

3:24.658: Missing note.

3:47.462: Missing note, guitar.

3:50.379: Offsync, just this hand.

3:55.045: More offsync shenanigans on this and the following hand.

4:11.045: The vocals hit So early relative to these drum notes that this layering of the jumps feel quite off.

4:27.045-4:27.545: No 16ths here. 24ths.

4:29.795 & 4:31.129 & 4:31.295: There are no clear 16ths on the guitar there. At the very least, 4:31.129 should be removed.

6:23.982: 48ths, not 32nds.

9.04.395-9.21.153: What the fuck. There's a reason why this song has been cut, and this is a prime example.

9:24.463: Again what.

9.49.539-10:07.539: Yeah no, this aint happening sorry. The first 9 minutes of this chart are absolute filler relative to whatever's going on here.

12.48.759-12.57.097: Rofl. Nope. These aren't even straightforward cheatable jumptrills, they require speed control at speeds faster than anything else so far.

This chart doesn't quite work unfortunately. Aside from the multiple inconsistencies in layering (especially in the first half), incorrect flam usage and wrong quantizations here and there, the difficulty curve for a 14 minutes chart just makes no sense. The last quarter or so is so much more difficult than anything else in the chart, by a lot. Yes it's nice musically, but to make such a long marathon chart out of it and have the first 9 minutes be trivially easy is not good. This would have to be significantly balanced out first, along with many fixes throughout the chart, to make it meet the threshold. For what it's worth, the last quarter is neat in isolation (hence why it was cut most likely, since it's so much faster).

Note: the timestamp comments below were written last October.

- 19.136-20.025: why 16ths instead of 8ths?
- 41.475: jump? see 42.675
- 53.175: why jump?
* 1:14.025-1:15.225: should be 12ths
- 1:25.431, 1:45.293: move to 1:25.293, 1:45.156
- 1:30.259, 1:50.121: missing
- 1:35.500-1:35.707, 1:55.362-1:55.569: should be 16ths

- 1:57.541, 1:59.341, etc. up to 2:03.241: flams
- 2:03.354-2:03.804: move the 123 a 32nd earlier and add 2:03.466 (that's where the drums are for some reason)
- 2:15.054, 2:21.954: missing
- 2:17.604-2:19.104: only 2:17.604 (32nds), 2:18.054 (32nds), 2:18.504 (64ths), and 2:18.804 (96ths?) are flams. Also the drums at 2:18.054-2:18.354 are different from each other.
- 2:25.854-2:26.154: maybe singles?
- 2:39.954-2:40.254: not flams
- 2:44.604-2:44.754: not flams, and the flam right before it is a 32nd

- 2:52.758-2:53.758, 3:11.958-3:12.958: inconsistent in hand usage
- 3:35.379: move hand to 3:35.212
- 3:35.879-3:37.045: maybe give variations to the trill since the drum fluctuates
- 3:39.379-3:39.545, 4:25.379-4:25.545: single? doesn't sound strong enough
* 3:41.212-3:41.712: Too heavy on the left side. Also move 3:41.212 to 2 since it's the same drum as the 313 right before it.
- 3:45.379: hand
- 3:47.962: move to 3:48.129
- 3:50.379, 3:55.045: for some reason, the sound is actually off by 32nds. idk if they're worth moving though.
- 3:51.295: ghost
- 3:51.545: single
- 4:10.379-4:10.462: maybe 41?
- 4:26.629-4:26.795: 344?
* 4:27.045-4:27.545: should be 24ths

- 4:31.129: not audible enough

* 9:06.463-9:07.705, 9:26.532-9:27.774: the stream is already fast enough. These jacks on a single column make it too spiky.
** 9:07.705-9:21.153: this is impossible. Please remove the singles, and maybe put PR on the hands.
** 9:49.539-10:07.539: nice meme, but this is also impossible. I don't think jumptrills are gonna work either, considering that this is 10 minutes into the song. The only suggestion I have is 8th/6th hands. I hope that still counts as a wall.

** 12:56.740-12:57.097: not the best pattern 13 minutes into the song

The chart definitely cleans up some of the outdated designs in v1, except for the 9-10 minute section which is unreasonably spiky: I can SDG everything besides that section (maybe minus 12:56-57) but can't score anything meaningful in there. For a marathon file like this (any file really, but especially marathon), the last thing I want to see happen is an otherwise good chart turn out unplayable to some people in the relevant skill range. Even with the whole chart length in consideration, a whole minute of overhaul feels too much for an FR, unfortunately.

As for the rest of the chart, apart from a few spikes it plays fine with a nice pattern diversity. I wish some sections were more layered and some other sections maybe need a bit of nerf, but I think the 9-10 minute one has to be dealt with first before contemplating the overall balance.
