Winter 2023 Seasonal Batch

Released
Resubmitting from May/June 2020 batch. Applied most of Gradiant's suggestions and buffed the song. He was displeased about the song's sound quality, though I don't know if I can do much about that since I got it from the Bandcamp source (https://rancorousrecords.bandcamp.com/album/ranc004-herrschaft-tour-cd). S.I.M. on kor Funkle - is in the "FlashFlashRevolution v9 Permissions Spreadsheet"

2.578: (23) here for the motif?

8.160: Would suggest switching to 43124312 here otherwise this clear jump in intensity from the song is completely lost.

44.788: Really feel like these hardest hitting bass notes could easily be hands when hitting at the same time as other percussions to contrast the rest of the song. Could be underlayered to jumps when they're 16ths, just like at 54.381 for example. As is, the jumps cover a very wide range of note intensities and as a result make the layering quite unclear at times. It's not a major concern, but it does drag this chart down.

1:03.450: Slightly swingy beat here, a 48th at 1:03.480 would be better. Check for the other occurrences.

1:05.631 1:06.154: Missing notes, especially if 1:06.503 although I'd argue that note should be a 32nd at 1:06.546 instead.

1:10.950: Strange decision to layer these very subtle triplets as opposed to the clear swish/slide sounds at 1:11.212 & 1:11.735.

1:19.061: Similar missing note for example.

1:22.026 & 1:22.200: Missing single notes.

1:42.171 & 1:42.433 & etc: No single 16ths here?

2:12.651 & 2:14.046 & etc: Not a fan of these 32nds for this very quick buzz sound. They're spiky and awkward to play given the surrounding notes. Simple color theory on the 16th instead would ease it a lot and the 32nds would be kept only for long enough buzz sounds.

Eh, this certainly is a great improvement from the original submission at least. It still suffers from having really unclear 16ths throughout the chart, however they're much less of a focus point given the better layering and motifs. There's nothing too egregious that would warrant a reject, but it would definitely benefit from some polishing. There's enough fun rhythms that properly represent the song to make this enjoyable despite the pretty harsh song.

SIDE NOTE: I'm unsure if this was submitted before or after we found out about your mono sound settings. If before, please do a thorough check to see if your usage of the 16ths is really what you wanted.

2.578 - [23] pls
7.288 / .462 - (subjective) why are these different jumps?
19.846, 20.107 - (subjective) Move these notes a 32nd later to emphasize song’s bouncy nature here, or leave as is for flow
1:06.416 / .503 - ? ghost
1:21.198 - ? ghost
1:22.026 / .200 - You’ll probably want notes here
1:23.857 - 1:33.625 - (subjective) This section has a handful of more swing-y notes that can be reflected by moving 8th notes like 1:24.381 later - by a 24th or other amount
1:42.171, .433, .695, .956, (subjective)1:43.218 - might want these notes
2:08.770 - debatable ghost

Audio is fine. I would still recommend (but not require) a -1 or -2 dB adjustment. No major complaints otherwise.

For OP~

44.788 - Doing hands would limit the PR space I have for the singles that appear afterwards
1:03.450 - There’s no slight swing
1:10.950 - Fixed. Recheck 1:10.776-1:11.823
2:12.651/2:14.046/etc - I can consistently hit this, so it’s not that hard to warrant a change

For Tru~

7.288/7.462 - They’re both diff pitches
19.846/20.107 - I’ll leave as is
1:06.416/1:06.503 - OP says otherwise
1:21.198 - Subtle accordion noise
1:23.857-1:33.625 - Not really swingy, but I think it looks like that b/c the audio here is a bit off-sync from the BPM
2:08.770 - Noise from the Amen Break sample

Any note I didn’t mention here means I implemented it. With regards to OP’s comment about the “missing 16ths on the jumpjacks starting from and after 20.718” (assuming this includes 1:42.171/etc), they were audible even in Mono. I just didn’t step it b/c it was barely audible at 100% speed. But since I’m stepping the swish noises now, then I might as well step those 16ths
