Terror From Beyond v2 (Xtreme2252) [8/10]

PERMS OK
SYNC OK

27.247: Should be (24)3 to be consistent with 22.058 (and other iterations) where the chord isn't changed.

48.247: Would suggest adding a 16th here to emphasize the double bass kick on the following 8ths. Same at 53.437.

48.815: Adding an 8th here would be nice too, for the kick. Same at 54.004.

1:00.815: No jump here, just a single at most. Same at 1:06.004, 1:11.193 & 1:16.383.

1:28.545: Move this to a (13) to cut the 11-notes anchor on col 4.

1:29.031: Move this to a 3 to cut the 11-notes anchor on col 4.

1:31.950: Missing minijack here (this note and 1:32.112 should be same column).

2:21.896: This (23) jumpjack is a bit odd given how these buildups have been charted so far. Would suggest changing the 8ths to another chord like (24) for example.

This chart is surprisingly good for its simplicity. While there is a slight drag given the nature of the song, this does a great job at offering a variety of fun patterns with a controlled difficulty curve. Some anchors are a bit unjustifyably long, but that's not a big deal. This should make a fun V2.

>Perms, metadata, sync good

12.004-12.491 - I suggest changing this section from [24]1[24]1 to [12]4[12]4 for better PR, since there is another [24] at 11.356 that represents a different noise.
17.356/17.680 - Kinda surprised that these singles weren’t on [3] as part of this long trill.
22.545/22.869/27.734/28.058/28.545 - Missing jump
27.247 - Should be [24] for consistent layering.
30.166/30.491 - Should be [34] for better PR. The noise before this spot already occupied the [23] pattern.
30.815-32.761 - Why was this ascending noise alternating trills of “1313-2424”, but 15.247-17.193 wasn’t?
38.031/38.356/43.220/43.545 - Missing note
43.788-56.437 - Maybe step the swishy-swoosh background noise here to make this entire section feel less empty.
46.950/47.193 - Should be on [1].
1:00.166-1:00.491 - Should be [34] for consistent layering of “ABA”. The next few repetitions follow that same pattern of “ABA” with the jumps.
1:00.653-1:01.139/1:05.842-1:06.329/1:11.031-1:11.518/1:16.220-1:16.707 - PR needs work here. Out of these 4-jump sections, the second jump should have a jump pattern that’s different from the first jump and the third/fourth jump.
1:17.599-/1:17.923 - If the yellow 16ths are going to the ascending melody, then these two singles should be removed since the ascending melody starts at 1:18.166. And also, 1:18.166-1:19.139 should have its 16ths filled out.
1:30.491-1:33.896 - Fix the 4-jump repetitions here. Make it consistently “AABC”, like the ones afterwards.
1:50.275 - Turn this to a [24] like 1:50.761.
1:59.031-1:59.518 - Maybe lessen up the [3] anchor by using [12]’s instead.
2:11.518 - Missing jump. Snare
2:16.707-2:16.869 - Should at least be a minijack here since there’s a 2-jump snare repetition.
2:22.842/2:26.437/2:29.031/2:31.626/2:34.220/2:36.815/2:39.410/2:42.004 - Not part of the synth jack. Please change the respective jumps to a jump pattern that’s different from the synth jack.

>>File’s got acceptable layering. Just be more mindful about PR and unnecessary anchors.

I think I'm finally getting a grasp on the issue with anchors. This tweak overhauls a few problematic sections of the song, and I hope you'll agree it's a vast improvement over the original, and maybe even over the legendary v1

A new chart file was uploaded with the following changes:
----------
Note Count changed: 1894 => 1957
AVG NPS changed: 11.06739 => 11.43553
Hand Bias changed: 48 => 49

Off the top of my head several of the changes I made were...

During the weird wobbly synth segments, I fixed the PA by correcting my error in determining the pitches [ABBAABABCDDCEFEF] where E is charted as B and F is charted as A respectively, in all cases.

I tried ending each roll section in a similar fashion, with emphasis on the two crashes at the end, with three [BCB] notes following each. The exception is one roll in the middle in which a change in synth chords is emphasized over the crash.

I corrected several instances of the squawky synth notes being charted as [A...A] when they should be [A...B] or [A...B] when they should be [A...A]

Bass kicks are now consistently charted as single notes throughout the bridge of the song.

The final post-chorus of the song now follows a number of guidelines;
1. During the end of each measure where the two alternating jumps lead into a hand, the anchor that follows must now always be the note not charted in the hand
2. Back-to-back measures cannot have the same two-note jump as their most common two notes.

Putting this on hold. While most of the judges' notes were fixed/implemented, there are significant unmentioned changes that might require a second review. Will post here as soon as I get all the necessary opinions.

After discussing this update, here is the feedback we have:

43.788 - 56.437I: Would rather revert the quads to jumps - to at least showcase some form of PR and to reduce the amount of unnecessary jacks.

1:42.815: Should be a single.

1:55.707 & 2:00.896 [FR]: These minijacks are way overkill in a section that is already climax theory'd with the hands. Please make these 16ths non minijack jumps.

Moving this to FR until the minijacks issue is resolved.

Update completely reworking that section of the song that was riddled with hands. I changed the layering and nerfed the kicks.

Note Count changed: 1957 => 1916
AVG NPS changed: 11.43553 => 11.19595
Hand Bias changed: 49 => 44

Also, I'm sorry for the inconvenience with additional "fixes" but some of the rolls in particular were really nasty. I nerfed I think two really poorly layered rolls in the middle and changed some of the rolls to minimize anchors. I think these are all rather minor changes and they, at least in my opinion, act to make the chart more consistent and less frustrating/chokeable during the admittedly inconsistent rolls

Posting in place of Op-

Assuming that there's no additional surprise changes in the next version, I'm ok w/ taking the FR off if you did two things - (1.) put non-minijack jumps on 1:55.707 & 2:00.896 (2.) add the missing swishy-swoosh notes: 48.207, 49.180, 50.153, 50.802, and 51.450.

A new chart file was uploaded with the following changes:

AVG NPS changed: 11.19595 => 11.20764
Hand Bias changed: 44 => 40

I did add the swoosh sounds in. Instead of a quad, they are now split as mini-rolls. As 32nd notes (abc-d-)

This update turned the notes you mentioned into non-jack jumps rather than single notes

K, almost there. Now finish the file by adding the missing swishy-swoosh notes located at: 48.207, 49.180, 50.153, 50.802, and 51.450.

I don't think there's any missing notes at those parts. I think what I charted it as now is repesentative of what they are in the song, at least to my ear o~o

Nope, there definitely are some swishy-swoosh noises at 48.207, 49.180, 50.153, 50.802, and 51.491 (changed from 51.450, which I had to listen a bunch more times to get a more accurate spot).

I hear what you're talking about now. I was only hearing and charting the underwater bubble gloop sounds and not those weird scratchy sounds

A new chart file was uploaded with the following changes:
----------
Note Count changed: 1918 => 1938
AVG NPS changed: 11.20764 => 11.3245
Hand Bias changed: 40 => 36

The changes are satisfactory. Moving to accept.

Sounds good! Moving this to Difficulty Consultants.
