Weirdest time signature ever?

You thought LASTMORN was awkward? Meet Taunfolk! This song's weird time signature allows for some pretty unique patterns. I actually really like this file so I hope people will choose it as a reward if it gets accepted.

✔️ This chart has been marked as final and shouldn't receive any more changes.

-PR is a little bit over the place in the beginning singles here. Instead of ‘1-2-3-4’ it gets ‘1-2-1-4’, and a lot of notes that have the same pitch are really not sharing the same columns where they are supposed to be. Only part where the right column actually gets its first ‘highest pitched note’ is at 00:05.357.

-Pretty sad with the overall structure given that there are a few omitted notes here and there between 00:28.298 -> 01:02.193 that could really add to some pre-established drum structure notated at 00:11.348.

-[01:07.840 onwards] Suffers from the same sort of underlayering structural issue from not including pre-established drum structure.

-[01:20.552] Copy-pasted directly from the intro and inherits a lot of the same PR issues involved.

-I really want to like this for the variance in BPM, rhythm and patterning involved here, but the file itself doesn’t feel entirely fleshed out yet. Mid-sections are missing drums which are part of the structure for 00:11.348 -> 00:28.298 and then disappear for the rest of the file. Both the intro and outro of the file are struggling PR-wise, and needs a fair bit of work.

- 0:05.582 It might be better to leave these two notes out if you're going to change which sound you're following. The emptyness at 0:07.559 is a bit odd until you realize what changed, and this might help with that.

- 0:29.563 for the majority of the chart it seems kicks and snares are purposely on different jumps, but these ones jack.

- 0:41.009 Because of the funky time signature we got a bit of an orange/yellow note syndrome going on in this secion. It seems a lot of care was taken to try and reset the colors to avoid this in other sections of the chart, so it really stands out here.

funky time signature chart. pretty crazy "drunk" chart. if only note colors handled funky time signatures like this better.

Sorry about the permission thing, I'll link it next time.

Perfect PR is simply impossible to have in the intro,
let's say I made it 1-2-3-4, then I'd most likely have to place the note at 0.951 on [2] or [1] right? Well that note has a higher pitch than 0.499 and 1.139.
Same story at 2.357 and 3.776 etc.
5.357 is the first instance where I actually have more room for PR.

- 5.583: Good call.
- 29.563: I have a lack of room here.
- 40.275, 40.501: Added notes to missing percussive elements.
- 41.009: I think having the chart be true to to music for this section is cool because of the repeating bassline, changing the colors would get really complicated once other elements of the music are introduced.
- 67.840 onwards: You mean the shaker? which would mean adding a bunch of minijacks.. A new instrument was introduced so I left more room for that.
- 76.095, 76.180: Added missing jumps to the snare/kick.
- 80.552: Same answer as the intro, but the reason I copy-pasted it was that I wanted to put the player back into a more familiar territory after doing all the crazy time signature stuff.

Thanks for the notes, I don't really agree with the reject status.. Chart isn't perfect and I'm going to make changes to it, but I feel there's nothing wrong with the structure of the file. You start off with a focus on the drums/percussion then you move to a section that still follows the kick/snare, but leaves more room to follow the synth/bass.

If I were to include the shaker from the beginning to the end you'd end up with a JS file, my goal/idea for this song wasn't to make a JS file.
I disagree that I'm missing drums. (unless you mean that one specific instance at 76.095/76.180) I'm clearly following the snare/kick throughout the song, I just chose to omit the shaker to leave room for other elements.

Since I disagree with the idea that the entire chart should follow the same drum structure as 11.348 I'm appealing this.

Moved to Accept.

woah this is a really cool file.

My only real gripe from playtesting is of course 1:11.681. I'll advocate for [23] but not going to force it.

I find myself pretty heavily disagreeing with a lot of Gold's points here, as the chart very clearly makes room for new, more interesting elements rather than following a strict drum structure established from near the beginning. Having such a rigid structure here isn't a good reflection of this song's dynamic nature imo. The file is much more interesting as a result of this more dynamic structure.

The exception is the transitions to the higher instrument that comes in at 5.921 and 1:26.427 are notably jarring as it's kind of in the middle of a musical phrase. Making those notes a jump might help the transition. Not forcing a change on this point either, it's super subjective.
