I hope I'm not the only person here who thinks that placing "Dance" songs under the "Misc" Genre is a bad idea.

Who cares if its getting large? Understand that the entire premise of this game is mostly, if not entirely based off of Dance music. So understandably so Dance has to be the largest category. Instead of placing new songs in Misc, why not create another Dance Category? Dance 1 and Dance 2? Or something similar.

I just don't see why it would make sense to put it under Misc, it just loses organization at that point. I understand it would be 8+ pages long, but does it really matter? If we continue to do the same for Misc, it will be the same case, at least until R3 comes out.

Agreed.

Don't make Misc into Dance, just make another Dance genre and split up the songs by difficulty.

IMO, all of the categories should be reorganized. I have no idea how, or what groups there would be, so whatever.

Yeah I agree with this. If it's dance why shouldn't it be placed in dance? Not really the same topic but I wasn't too impressed when they added an arcade song (I think it was tetris remix) just because they wanted another arcade song, even though the stepfile or song wasn't that great.

I had mentioned to Shash about a week ago that I was going to talk to Synth to see if we could re-organize the categories... not sure it is even possible.

What I'd like to see is Hip-Hop and Funk combined into 1 genre, thus freeing up space for a Dance2. At which point, we'd re-organize Dance so that .5 to 3.5 (or so) would stay in Dance and 4.0-6.0 would go into Dance2. Either that, or keep everything as it is in Dance, and we'd just start putting all future Dance songs into Dance2.

I would rather see dance split into different subgenres of electronica than have "dance" and "dance2".

I know this is probably unlikely though.

ps if you combine hiphop and funk, what would you call it? The only thing I can think of would be REALLY RACIST

Electronica, Techno, Dance, Trance, Ethnic Techno, Dance-Club, Happy, Rave, NoiseRave, Splash, and Hyperbeat.
and thats just whats currently in FFR.

Dont be seperating by types, seperating by difficulty is a good idea.

Dance used to be set up in multiple pages on the old version so I could see that happening again. But I agree that I would like to see the dance songs seperated by difficulty as opposed to electronic genre.

I'd be more keen for Placing whats in funk into Misc. Funk is one of those things that never seemed large to me and we could always get more hip hop in, except there aren't that many artists that produce said hip-hop that we have permission from. I say we could do that which would free up the space.

As for what to call them? No Idea, I just said Dance 1 and Dance 2 as a Placeholder really. It made the most sense though.

HH doesn't have a full page either...

regardless, i brought this up to Synth. apparently it is possible, and he is going to work on it. he'll either change the name of 2 genres... OR.... he'll add a genre. he isn't sure which would be easier.
