Simfile #1 Submitted!
I just uploaded my new simfile to the server. I know this is my first file but I'd really appreciate it if you would download it and tell me what you think. I put a lot of effort into this. I'm sure most of you will like it.
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...hp&songid=3238 Please leave me comments. All feedback is appreciated. EDIT: Banner just to observe while you wait for the simfile to Download And yes, I do my own graphics. Oh and watch for more of me, I'm gonna step a lot this summer. Comin back just to advertise this. Wrote my feelings about this sim on the download page. If you liked any one of my sims, you'll love this twice as much. This guy's had a lot of unshared experience stepping. He's not new to the scene, and this sim shows that.

EDIT: What's with the random jacks everywhere Also switching to and from freeform here and there Plus some of the drum parts are just plain wrong Plust 64th jack for no reason It's got a lot of errors, but uh... If this is your first file then it's really really good. EDIT2: nvm it's not your first gj to myself not reading the thread properly Anyway it's not perfect but it's not bad either. Gj.

Re: Simfile #1 Submitted!
Yeah, 64th jack XD. But for the most part a good file, some parts are barley readable though. I can see myself playing this in the future alot though. 9/10

The only slightly random jacks weren't 'everywhere'. They were at the very end, indicating that the tune of the synth in the background repeated the same note twice. They were minijacks anyways, at 80 bpm i think. I know I switched a lot. In some cases this wouldn't be the best decision, but its a lot better than doing the same thing over and over for 16 measures straight. Simfiles like that tend to get old quickly. I coulda sworn all my drum parts were dead on. And if you're talkin about the areas where there is a 16th stream followed by a 32nd mini-stream at the end, I know that is 100% accurate. Slow down the song if you'd like. And i see NO 64th jack in that entire song. I'd like it if someone would tell me where the hell it is (what measure it falls on). I just went through and played this song again. The ONLY place where I have a 64th at all is during the part of the song i slowed down to half-speed. And it was not a jack. I can't get too tied up tho. Atleast I got some type of feed back. Also, thank you gator for the positive feedback. |

Re: Simfile #1 Submitted!
What, this?
It's an arrow to jump pattern with the arrow overlaying the jump. Not only is that not considered a jack (technically it is, but it isn't played like one), but it's at 80 ****ing bpm. Cry about it. It's accurate, regardless; it even follows the acoustic properties of the song, with the right and left arrows being placed to their corresponding speakers that the drum beats come out of. Listening to the song EXTREMELY closely (I have sennheiser headphones, and I'm listening to the section on loop with all sound balanced to one ear) and I hear one error in his drum loops pattern that he repeats. Cut him some slack; he's steppin with speakers. And about the switching. So...what? If he stuck to one form throughout the song, I'd probably never play it again. Instead, he incorporates different sounds in the music into one stepfile nearly seamlessly, a skill I wish I could do as well as he did. Remember; this is a game. Game makers strive to make their games fun, not perfect. I'm not even going to touch the ending jacks subject, if you're retarded enough to think those are out of place then I doubt you could comprehend my argument. Fin.

I'm talking about the jacks (or rather, the drills) whenever you have a jump. Skor's old files had a lot of jacks like this, and Ducky's files still do, and I have no idea why. It's quite obvious there is no sound repeated, so I see no reason for there to be a jack there. Quote:
Also, I hate freeform when you're doing piano, so that's why :X

Listen to Zagh, he's usually one of the most 'technically proficient' stepartists. I myself had a enjoy- definetly better than a lot of the crap in SS (not sure if that's saying much... but I digress). Awesome job for your first steps, keep it up

No I was really confused with his comment. Wasn't sure if it was supposed to be funny. If it was, why doesn't it make people laugh? I'm really confused. Plus the bible is pretty dammed funny in my opinion.. How can you think the collab of Zagh and GP on their Song "You Are" in the (I forget which) pack was technically proficient? It's a perfect example of how simfiles these days are going down the **** hole. |

Re: Simfile #1 Submitted!
Simfiles like You Are, Vault of Heaven, or any of that other random STREAM WHORED BULL**** is what really puts weight on SM, almost to a breaking point. There have been REALLY good stepfile artists in the past. Take Toph for example. Every file different, every beat listened to, and ever file thought out clearly, as to give the sim a glimpse of perfection. Or how about I mention aperson. A master of all genres. Take into account his files Brace yourself and Take Time. Did the light ever really shine on these two artists? Cause in a way it looks like to me they, and people like them, are the only people who have kept stepmania alive this long.
This may seem slightly off topic, but I'll say it anyways. Lots of people have beef against Moogy. And I may not agree to everything he says all the time. But there is ONE thing that he does say that makes perfect sense to me. Stepmania sucks. Why does it suck? It hasn't sucked before (well, it might have to Moogy). It's because it's lost originallity and tallent. Which comes directly from stepfile artists. Flame me ALL you want, atleast I can say I tried (and in my eyes succeeded) in doing my part to save whatever good is left in Stepmania. But seriously do you people have your own voice?! EDIT: Quote:

Re: Simfile #1 Submitted!
Just coming out of knowhere and taking this ****ty attitude won't really help you. If this is the thread where you intro your new file, should it be a bit more let's just say presentable?
I won't get the file just for the principle of it. Hope you don't lose sleep over it. ;o

Re: Simfile #1 Submitted!
Your sim is generic whether you like it or not. Don't act like it's a breakthrough.
And Brace Yourself is garbage, sorry.
