Help me get permission for song plz

Alright see I've never really contacted a band before about getting a song onto FFR and I don't know what to say in an email to them.

I got the email address gbs@greatbigseaDOTcom which i got from here.

The band I'm trying to get permission from is Great Big Sea, and the song is called Rigadoon. I've already done the stepfile, so I just need permission from them to use it.

If anyone who knows what to write in a letter asking for permission can either

a) give me a sample letter of what to say to them
b) tell me every single thing to include in a letter to them

I'd really appriciate it thanks.

I would say something like "hi, I really like your song, and I think it would be a really cool song to have for FFR (link them to the site). With your permission, I would like to submit your song along with steps that I've written to FFR for them to possibly add to the website." but more wordy and formal and such

yea good luck on that though...cause if shop doesn't open up soon, the confused n00bs who can't figure out why they're not buying anything might go on a violent, bloody rampage and start killing people.

You did tell them that it was a non-profitable game? And that players wouldn't be able to download it from the game?

Something like that, not the best grammar or desprictions, so you probably wont want to copy and paste that, but it's about the right layout...

Just wait to see,it's just like in a movie I saw,the dude goes to prison and every week he writes a better letter until they give him grant money to make a better library for the prison.

What say when you wrote to the great big sea? Was it along the lines of what Brain said?

I just recieved a reply back! They said that they passed on my request to Great Big Sea management, so I might get a reply soon.
