man, Rob must be pretty upset about watering down Canary... I remember him really liking the original and not wanting to change it much, but it seems like he relented anyway.

So I played Canary Part V... yeah it's really watered down. I don't have much to say about it to be honest, it's still pretty fun but it doesn't really have the hard song aura that it gave in the DF version. :/

Re: Songs of the Week (April 12, 2012)
I really didn't like Canary at all. Even if it's watered down from whatever it was before, I still think it's a dump file. :/
Rainbow road had a few little things I didn't like, most notably that I noticed was the 3rd set of jumps at the start being (23) when the previous two were the same, but it was a different sound, so I would've done (14) with it or something like that. It didn't really feel right as a (23) for me. Good file otherwise, a bit too many hands though but it was ok. I liked the ending. The song didn't sound anything like the theme from the wii game from what I remember, I actually just played mario kart wii at my nephew's place last weekend. I don't remember it sounding anything like that at all. I really liked teraholic. Nuff said. Blackout was a simple, easy file, not much to say. |

Re: Songs of the Week (April 12, 2012)
Yeah I really wanted that chart to be almost pushing the 13 barrier tbh, but the original 48th jumptrill-esque bursts that were ultimately replaced by hands were pretty fuccen gay, so whatever lol.
Not entirely pleased with the finished product but eh, I could always use the 'first file' excuse haha. |

I love how I do worse on this version than the original.
Also WHY did the judges refuse the original? It was amazing! Goes back to playing it on the DF engine...

Re: Songs of the Week (April 12, 2012)
Judges didn't refuse the original because I never even bothered to submit it. A few people told me to water it down a bit since it probably wouldn't have been accepted as is, so I did.
v2 passed the initial judgment screening but jx still thought it was kinda spiky in some sections, so lol even-further-watered-down v3 |

At least this version is more tolerable than the other one. The DF one is retarded, dont even know how it managed to squeeze into conditional.

Re: Songs of the Week (April 12, 2012)
One quick question, any reason as to why this happened?
I didn't think it was possible for equally distanced notes in the SM editor to grab more than two different frame gaps once in game. And just played the other files. Wow Rainbow Road is fun as hell for a VD. Maybe I'm slightly biased because I'm a huge Zorsy fan but hi19 did a damn good job with this file. That ending brings tears to my eyes :') Really glad teraholic's in game, been waiting for that one. Jesse did a fine job, as expected lol. And chill Flashbulb songs are always super relaxing to play so props to Alex. |

Re: Songs of the Week (April 12, 2012)
canary v1 i still find much more fun on the DF engine, but it's still equally as fun on FFR, good job OWA
teraholic was fun as well, not a fan of the rolls leading into hands but overall really nice haven't tried rainbow road yet, i will soon hope everyone enjoys blackout as much as i have when stepping it

Either way, congratulations on your first file in the official FFR game OWA, even if it doesn't match the file with the epic competition I and Halogen had in the last round of DF Custom Tourney 6 haha. I just played the file, and it looks like that part isn't the only place that was weird -- at the end, it looked like there was a 3 frame gap thing going on. I'll have to take another look at how the frames worked out later. The file is definitely a lot different than what I remembered from the DF tournament; it's still tough with the one handed parts. Think outside the box! Also, you're probably confusing this theme with the much more well known N64 or SNES Rainbow Road songs. The Wii version is pretty, but not nearly as instantly recognizable.

Great files this week.
Congrats again OWA :3 ... you did a great job (my hands hurts so much). also, the beginning of teraholic caught me off guard... any reason for not having the 2 seconds silence?? also, yay.. Rainbow Road from Wii \o/ |
