What was I thinking Not saying yours is bad, you're really starting to get the hang of it But the more you produce, the more you realized how much you used to suck, for me atleast haha

Re: Music Works In Progress Thread
It comes with time no matter what, Tristam said it well "Unfortunately there's no other way around it other than thousands of hours of work"

Re: Music Works In Progress Thread
Btw, that .flp would really help XD
Especially if I somehow manage to get classified for the Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch. I'll have to create a new song every 2 weeks and compete with another musician :/

Re: Music Works In Progress Thread
start making vgm remixes
even if you think they're bad, remixing vgm helps a lot with learning how to make your stuff sound good you really don't have to worry about all the things you would worry about if you made an original song

Make some 1,4,5's; some 4cp's The problem isn't creativity, but more of the production. Once you learn to really utilize the cliche tactics, then nothing can stop you mauahwhwha Honestly, all of us ffr musicians are still learning and most likely will always be learning.

If you need help with production tips esp. regarding breakcore ask me or choofers who I think are the only 2 remaining breakcore producers here. Also work on making good music, not for the fans. If I am able to create a solid piece of music that sounds good to me, and others, yet I still dont have fans, I still would feel very accomplished. Here is a tune I made in 2011 that would fit under the breakcore umbrella albeit its very organized and structured in its approach... it's also a VGremix, and like others said thats a great way to learn production. https://soundcloud.com/cbr/dark-dark-docks (listening to it in 2013 I could have improved the mix on the pads, drums and pushed the master further hehu) Last edited by Coolboyrulez0; 07-20-2013 at 05:16 AM.. |

Re: Music Works In Progress Thread
Nice song! Though I can tell the mixing is not perfect, I wouldn't be able to point out where, specifically.
Hey, CBR, can you listen to Northwing Fury II and tell me specifically what you think needs to be changed, and how? https://soundcloud.com/zaevod/northwing-fury-ii I sort of used The Flashbulb as an inspiration for this. Is that a good reference?

Re: Music Works In Progress Thread
The guitar sounds really cheesy (0:53). It also doesnt really sound full (except the end) and feels buried in the mix.
Try getting NI Guitar Rig 5 and then just messing with that to give your guitar(s) more character... I think it's competing with the lows of the breaks, also. Personally I don't fully agree with the comments in the other thread but yeah, the processing on the break seems a bit random at parts -- I personally like this except in a few certain parts (0:40-0:43, the scratch at 0:51, the shuffle stutter at 1:40-1:42 again and wherever these parts repeat) I also think it's the hi-hat glitching that throws some people off. Opening bass was neat and I also like the sound of the breaks, nice and stereo. Overall one of your best songs. Flashbulb is amazing haha by far still most played artist on last.fm so that tells you something. PS: Additionally try Izotope Trash 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxBKNXe_hOE) and throw that on your breaks. You can shape and distort the breaks sound in really cool ways and the way you process the actual breaks will make it sound really excellent. Last edited by Coolboyrulez0; 07-20-2013 at 10:04 AM.. |

Re: Music Works In Progress Thread
Fixed a few things and updated the link (haven't quite corrected the issues you mentioned with the randomness in drums, but I think all instruments sound a lot better), tell me what you think!

This is a collab I'm doing with a friend. Everything you hear here was done by me, since were just sending it back and fourth. This is very rough right now, I haven't even touched the mixer channels for anything yet so there is absolutely no mastering. |
