hi19hi19 Packs Graphics Request Thread

Okay so that looks nice but I guess I forgot to mention...

.png format please, it's not like anyone super cares about filesize if they're downloading like 300mb of Stepmania so just use the higher quality format.

Also backgrounds should be 1280x720 and banners 512x160, wtf is up with all the weird sizes people are using?
Has something changed with regards to graphics sizing convention that I don't know about? lol
(yes I realize that they all scale to these dimensions, so I'm just confused)

I'll cross Resurrection Spell off but I'd appreciate if you could repost the images with these properties.
Also you can get rid of the "LeaF" on the background, it's not required that artist be on the background (or banner, tbh) and it does look a bit out of place.
And you seem to be missing a block of texture in the lower right corner, again not a huge deal but might as well fix it lol

Gazelle posted 3 sets at 1366x768 before you mentioned a size guideline. I think maybe buta's banner is just scaled larger because it would look better with higher resolution themes.

Even my bg for this set was larger when I finished it, since I was following Gazelle's lead.

Yeah I just left Gazelle's larger. I can scale them down at some point maybe or I could just leave them, its not a huge deal.

i can resize if you'd like, but as far as i know sm5 scales them by itself, the larger it is the more resolutions the sets can fit while keeping the image quality, correct me if im wrong though i don't know for certain.

just gonna keep doing them at this size for now because it'll be easier for me to scale them down than up

Funny that you mention it, out of all the graphics you made me years ago, the vast majority were released already in my first packs, but there were two files with your graphics that didn't make the cut for those packs. I redid one of those files and it is going to be released in this pack now. So in fact you already have a gfx set in this pack.
That said, I would love to have you contribute more now!

You are correct that SM5 scales graphics automatically. SM3.9 scales automatically too, which unfortunately means widescreen backgrounds get squished horizontally. But that's something 3.9 players should be used to by now haha
I suppose it's fine if you want to keep using the slightly larger background size. Like I said, filesize is kind of a non-issue so might as well.
I just wanted to make the guidelines clear in case people started going smaller, which is not okay.

If possible, I'd like to suggest a few small changes:
First, make the Japanese a little brighter; it's almost invisible with grey against black.
And second, some kind of additional figure in the picture. The backdrop is already very nice for this. You could just slap an obligatory anime on there, or some party girl silhouette iPod advertisement kind of deal (sorta like this, which I think fits really well, but is unfortunately from a YouTube screencap and I don't want to just darkshark it for my own pack), or something else you come up with.

I'll go ahead and cross this song off, as I'll absolutely use these gfx if you don't want to edit them any more.
Sorry if this is being too picky... like I said, I'm super grateful even if you don't edit them at all.

Alternatively you could use that background for a different song that it might fit better (maybe Reminders, or one of the darker metal songs?) and make something else for Explosion Girl? idk up to you

They were scaled down because those dimensions are what are used for FFR backgrounds, which this was intended to be.
I wish I still had large resolution versions of them to use, because I really like how they look, especially the banner.
I was just going to use them anyway despite the size because I'm so fond of them haha

Made a last minute decision to remove one song from the pack and replace it with another, so I updated that accordingly.
Also added Thunderdome to the low priority in case Cold Kitten (or anyone else) wants to do the same style but higher resolution, which would be really awesome.

And in case people think I'm just sitting on my ass waiting for other people to finish my pack for me, I have been doing a whole bunch of gfx sets myself too.
Really happy with how this one turned out, for example:

Textures, a bevel, or even just a gradient seems to be what my big blocky text was missing.
