Default Ethereal Rebellion (Pad Pack) Released!!!

>click banner to download<

Ethereal Rebellion

----------------
Ethereal Rebellion started back in December with the hope to collect good pad files for all to enjoy. Unfortunately, the pack was stalled (again) due to strict judges, a lack of interest, lack of integrity, and just pure laziness . After some time, thought and dedication, the judges and myself were finally ready to continue the project in April. Again to our surprise, the pack was accepted with open arms, and received about 120 submissions in 3 months. Out of those 120 submissions, 22 files were accepted, and deemed enjoyable enough to play. The project success this time around is thanks to our judges for choosing the best of the best, our graphics team (mainly zimlord) for making it look professional, the skilled step-artists for creating the content, and of course the community for giving us the opportunity and attention to present the idea and make it a reality.

Damn even after fixing up my two file submissions like 12313871623123 times it's still rejected, lmfao. Oh well, guess I'll throw those two into Xoon Pad Pack 2.

Not like you know how to step anyway. Take your snide comments elsewhere.

The only real problem in this pack is that it lacks diversity. The files all play out almost the same (aka standard 8th crossover going into various different streams sections with the occasional mines thrown in). This indicates that all of the judges had really similar tastes in files. Pad files are way more about personal preferance than keyboard files are. Pack would be a lot better if you would take some different styles of files.

Also the other comment really wasnt meant to be as snide as it came off. Just a little annoying that you decided to cut peoples files last minute because they werent a carbon copy of your own files.

Files were cut last minute when Halogen re-entered and put his input within me and zeros. For one, we know we were very strict and that is what ER is. For two, this is the second time we received over 100 files and rejected more than 80% of them..

Honestly, your right about how personal preference plays a factor. We judge files off of it being synced to the music. Not "hey there's a girl singing lets 16th stream to make it difficult for no reason"

P.s. You submitted a file, can't be the worse thing in the world

i'm not gonna lie. that wasn't a great file i submitted. personally, i was just getting the hang of making okay pad files. I really wasnt concerned with it making it in or not. I mainly just make pad files for my own personal use.

I would like to try and avoid drama with this. My final point is really this. With pad files, it's really hard to be strict. Sure, if the file gets repetitive, has double steps, has awkward patterns, bad mine usage, etc, then reject it. But if the file is even mildly well done, there are bound to be a decent amount of people who are going to like it way more than the files that are "really good and passed the strictest of judging."

Last minute drops weren't my fault--I pretty much had my mind set on what I was going to say yes and no to. I don't know what happened to one of the files though--somehow JS's file went missing on my end, so I f*cked up there, oh well. -__-

I kinda changed stepping styles since the start of this pack too, haha. In the middle of me slacking in judging, I started working on PIU charts and ITG doubles got thrown in the mix somewhere too. It just opens your eyes as to how much technique your charts really had.

If I were to go back and see what was in, I'd probably be called a nazi judge (which I am already). I wouldn't have accepted Life is a Construct into this pack, and that's my own file, oops.

Zexon is actually pretty fun on pad though. I enjoyed Bass Speaks and Happy Hardogs a lot too.

I really don't think I'm going to judge in any other packs like this, I get lazy and lose motivation way faster than I should.

Also, Buizel--since your comment wasn't meant to be as snide as it came off as, I'm sorry for biting.

Don't we all.. It explains why this took 8 months. We do it for others rather than ourselves. The motivation is brought by the steppers and players interest. I came back because I was depressed over a 2-year break up and needed my attention brought elsewhere, and then I got Zero motivated and we proceeded.

Honestly, people should know by now how strict we are, what we look for etc etc and if we decide to do another, it would probably be just as long.. We do have lives to worry about and enjoy, the fact that we can still bring a decent pack of files together shows something even everyone wants to only criticize..

P.s. Glad you came back though, you helped enough to make a difference as always

EDIT: We'll probably release a lot of rejected submissions just to show people the BS if they think we are way to strict.. Also, let's other be excited to play 100 files that come by ones every 3 days

If you aren't doing a pack for at least partly your own interests, then of course you are going to lose interest in a judging. I am planning on doing a pad pack that is a colab between here and bluexoon (and anyone else who feels like submitting). If any of the judges of this pack are willing to tune down the standards, then I would be more than happy to have you as judges.

I just got a colbalt flux pad so I am constantly looking for pad files hahaha. Keeps me motivated.

Oh and Halogen? It's alright. I realize over the internet the implied meaning of things really isn't apparent.

I love you kommi :X also 2/3 of those files had completed graphics with it lol

@buz: i might be willing to judge time and time again, but i get quite lazy for long periods of time. Though i would probably submit something cool.
