What makes you happy?
I honestly can't think of anything that makes me happy.
I know there are a few things that bring me little pleasure, but it's always so fading. Doing well in some game, winning a little competition.. that's usually a nice quick upper, but the thing is, I'm just as likely to lose as win and that's just another thing that will bring me down if it happens. Stupid jokes are okay, but honestly make me grin for a second or two and then I'm back to wishing I had whatever it is in my life I'm missing. I believe in God. The funny thing is, having that knowledge doesn't seem to dispell anything lately. (Please don't go more into this, anyone that picks up this thread. I really don't feel like discussing the topic.) I have a few friends. But just a few. And when I am actually able to hang around with them, I'm just as sad if nor worse off than before they came over. I'm so confused. Maybe I should put this in my blog instead of here, but oh well. I'm gonna regret this. *click*

I'm happy with my friends. Laugh about things we remember... and just smile.
Note: I chose not to use the ditto mark. Watching a sunset makes me happy. Feeling healthy makes me happy. Sports make me happy. Waking up energized at 4 am and going outside makes me happy. Watching fireflies makes me happy. Riding a boat makes me happy, as long as the engine isn't running. Swimming makes me happy. Jogging makes me happy. Being with my dog makes me happy. Surprises make me happy. Water makes me happy. Movies make me happy... sometimes. Jokes make me happy. Hugging/kissing etc make me happy.

Besides, I'm willing to guess that anyone that gives that as advice has never had a girlfriend. If not all people, the majority of them.

When I look around, I have much more to be sad about than I do to be happy about. However, for the most part I am in between, not really happy or not really depressed.
There are these two guys that make me happy, their names are Jacob and Kyle. My sister's baby makes me happy. My kitty makes me happy. Accomplishing something makes me happy. ....that's about it. :/ I really don't look for things to make me happy. |

I think it just has a lot to do with a persons outlook. Most people wonder what I have to be happy about (which most the time appears to be nothing), but I always seem to be smiling.
It's the small things that make me smile.

I don't know what makes me happy either. Usually I'm happy if I get good feedback or think I did well on a poem or piece of artwork, if I do well in a game, or if I make my boyfriend happy. If I get good grades in school. If I take a good photograph. If I make a new friend.
Obviously there are other things. *cough* I'm sure someone is bound to mention them, so I won't bother.

What do you mean by happiness? Are you talking about the feeling you get after you do something correctly or well (good stimulus), a feeling of contentment when all your needs are fulfilled, or a feeling of joy from gaining something unexpected (like a free car from a raffle)? The first one is quite fleeting and you can never expect to keep it for long. The second is long lasting, but hard to achieve and often disrupted. The last can go on for quite awhile and be renewed easily (every time you drive the car), but can also be crushed easily (the car is a junker).
Contentment is the greatest happiness, the one that most people spend their entire lives striving for. |

okay here's the deal.
I don't know what you're calling happiness, but i think that happiness and contentment are two diferent things. Happy is something you feel when you're completely content, everything in your life is going right, and you have no cares in the world. That hardly ever happens, for long periods anyways. Being content is much easier to do, and therefore can happen quite often. Being content is just getting away for awhile, not worrying about stuff, and just not caring. It's a good part of happiness, but its not truly happiness, and it can go away quickly. Also, on a side note. The person who told you to get a gf? Don't listen to him. Being in a relationship CAN be a very happy time, but its never an easy road. I'd say with your outlook right now, getting into a relationship would probably be a bad idea, considering the fact that it could very easily get messy, and quickly too. Relationships AREN'T bad things, just maybe for you, right now, they are. As for what makes me happy, i don't really know, i've been happy a lot in my life, many times as a kid, because kids are almost always happy. They never have a care in the world, and just do w/e is fun. But other than that, just a few times, Being somewhere beautiful with my family/friends, and just feeling like i was on top of the world. Other than that, i like to stay content as long as possible, as often as possible. The main thing that makes most people, i think, content is, doing what you want, when you want. I respect the law (at least most of it) and can still do what i want, when i want, most of the time. Here's a few examples. Being with my friends, remenescing (spelling?) makes me content. Getting work done without being bothered makes me content. Talking with my internet friends, whether it's thru Chats, IM's, or on the phone, makes me content. Making new friends, whether they're internet, or immediate, makes me content. Beautiful days outside make me content. Orgasms make me content. (maybe TMI, maybe not, but we all can relate, at least MOST of us.) There. Those are some things that make me content, i hope you can find some things that make you content Laharl, cuz life sucks without good things. |

my ex-girlfriend makes me happy. she always did, and always will. just thinking about her...mmmmmm. so yeah, being in love makes me happy
those times late at night (like right now) when everything is quiet and it's just me here on the computer, and Rusty (1 of our dogs) pokes his head in to ask if he can come in, and i am able to softly tell him to get on the bed and he get up and lays down nice and calm, that makes me happy. (this is probably because during the day he wont shut up, and he's always barking really loudly all the time and i want to smack him sometimes) sometimes i'm just happy. idunno, no explaining it, but sometimes it seems like everything is good. like right now, i'm very happy. everything i do seems better right now. tomorrow night, i may be sad. idunno, there's no telling.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |
