Re: Cuphead!
Haven't had a ton of time to play it but beat the game in around 4 hours. Looking forward to playing through things again on Expert on the weekend, going to go for 100% achievements.
Overall solid game. Little disappointed it was much more boss fighting with very little platforming, but that's a personal gripe. The boss fights themselves are all pretty wicked and the challenge is on point (I didn't find it nearly as hard as many people claimed though). Graphics are obviously amazing and would love to see other games done in similar style.

Re: Cuphead!
Played a few hours and I love it! I wish cuphead had a victory animation after defeating a boss, but aside from that, i cannot come up with any complaint!

But it's a great game, I haven't gotten close to beating it yet but I'm enjoying it. The challenge is enticing, it doesn't rage me into submission. It's very well balanced imo.

Re: Cuphead!
Haven't played or bought it myself, but the aesthetics the game boasts is something I love spectating.
Without even playing it I feel this game has incredible passion for what it is. |

Re: Cuphead!
Just a few stages to finish up with S rank and it's 200%, All achievements and Full S clear A couple of the airplane stages are such nightmares to clear on expert without taking damage. The regular stages really aren't too bad to S, especially with the weapon swap damage boost, but the airplanes D:
Only 10-11 hours on it so far. Going to miss playing it tbh. Such a fun game.

Re: Cuphead!
game's a masterpiece
magdaddio bought it for me on sunday, finished normal with all A+ and Ps that day, S ranked all but two bosses today but they should be relatively free (haven't looked at them on expert yet, also not satisfied with a ton of my clear times so I'll probably grind them down further just for shits) toying with the idea of maybe speedrunning any% in my free time since it's pretty quick and I really don't want to stop playing it |

Re: Cuphead!
The game is perfection. The perfect amount a challenging and fun, the aesthetic is just unf so good, and don't get me started on the OST. I still haven't beaten it yet, mainly because I haven't dedicated much time to it. If you haven't played it yet, I highly recommend it.

Re: Cuphead!
Amazing.
I S'd everything other than a few airplane levels which were just driving me crazy so I gave up (Cala Maria in particular omg). None of the ground levels are major problems but the airplane levels take much longer and that fight in particular involves a ton of RNG. Still love the game. Might speed run it a bit. There are a couple bosses that I have consistency problems with and might need to practice though.

Re: Cuphead!
My buddy is practicing speedrunning this as well, apparently the weapon swap glitch allows for some phase skipping and generally reliable fast kills and so the run is like 90% mashing the X button as fast as possible. tbh looks like he's sitting there fapping for hours every time he practices the run.
friend pls

There are a few really weird interactions with this, Roller Coaster boss is one where he gets stuck on the death animation and you can just damage him until he dies which saves like a minute. Dragon does the same.

Re: Cuphead!
yeah weapon swapping significantly reduces the difficulty of the game, to the point where a lot of the fights are pretty mindless if you're just going for the kill and not a specific grade (and even then a ton of fights can be S'd in under a minute which definitely wasn't intended to be the case)
i'd been avoiding watching any speedruns until i played the game myself, so i watched one almost immediately after i finished the game on normal and had a good laugh hoping it's patched soon, but even then with good damage manipulation you can probably still skip some phases...on my first run when i was going for A+ on the bee, i managed to skip the plane phase entirely without weapon swapping and only using pea shooter + spread |

Re: Cuphead!
Not so much a dick-waving post but more so wanting to compare times with anyone else going for S ranks.
After playing them all, I'd probably agree with Reach that Cala Maria is the dumbest one to S rank, and not out of difficulty for the fight...she'd rarely ever throw the pufferfish out in the first or second cycles, and when she did it would only be two pink puffers most of the time so I couldn't satisfy my parry count. I'd always kill her around the middle of the third cycle so having to hold back damage to wait for the puffers pissed me off, and even then I'd rarely get the three pink patterns. A few of these times are really shit because I played patiently (like on Grim I only fired on the final phase when the heads weren't spitting fireballs out) but a good chunk of them I feel are pretty good. edit: ok I improved like almost every single time minus the shmups by at least 4-5 seconds (some a lot more) because I don't want to stop playing lol Last edited by One Winged Angel; 10-19-2017 at 03:49 AM.. |

Re: Cuphead!
Nicely done.
Agreed on all points, for many of the bosses having to get all the parries is one of the hardest parts. I too never watch runs and avoid spoilers until I beat the game, so I finished everything without WSG. Most of the fights are a lot more fun with peashooter. I won't be terribly upset with a patch, since I'm sure runners will still find creative ways to kill bosses quickly.
