Re: Winter Wind Etude
you know ipekili if you mash enough and don't get any misses you can be in the top 200 scores because ffr scoring engine blows

Re: Winter Wind Etude
oh and btw, if i am able to play the whole thing on the piano in 2 years (march 2015) i will be playing it in a chopin competition in miami FL. the winner gets an all expence paid trip to poland!!! oh, and qqwref, please leave this post. must i remind you that i am still new to ffr. i haven't been a member for even half a year yet. please stop being a downer to newer players. who cares if i'm just mashing the keys? i can still see the arrows and begin to learn the patterns.

Re: Winter Wind Etude
Mashing files way out of your skill level isn't going to improve finger dexterity, which directly relates to the OP that wanted to learn Winter Wind Etude on piano. Mashing on the piano isn't going to improve any dexterity or technique whatsoever.
The main problem here is that a legitimate suggestion is being given (with a sarcastic "AAAing it on FFR is a good start" post, but that really means to play properly instead of mashing in this case) and then a bandwagon comes in rejecting said suggestions that are valid What was also mentioned is also completely legitimate: Since it is so easy to pass songs on FFR because 1 good or perfect makes up for every miss or boo, anyone can mash through the harder songs and pass. Sure, you can just mash everything however you want, but it's not going to improve any dexterity or technique. Same goes for mashing on the piano. |

Re: Winter Wind Etude
I don't think he's trying to improve his piano skills (let alone finger dexterity) by playing Winter Wind Etude lol, he's playing the file just because he enjoys listening to it. As much as I discourage mashing and all I don't see a problem with a new player just playing a file to a song that they really enjoy, although they're nowhere near the skill to play it. It's just that the player wouldn't enjoy the file fully because they're not able to hit the patterns properly, but since they just like the song and not care about the score I don't see a reason why mashing shouldn't be allowed. He's playing casually. Nothing wrong with that. He could be playing files that's more geared towards his skill level, but it's his choice to play whatever he wants anyway.
qqwref's posts are uncalled for (or at least, way too blunt), there's nothing wrong with mashing when you're playing casually. They do what they want. If they don't wish to improve and just play that file, it's not anyone's problem except the player's. basically Quote:
Good luck with the competition ipekili |

Re: Winter Wind Etude
yes indeed. that is another reason why i play it. so what if i'm mashing the keys, i'm still hearing it which helps me in playing it on the real piano
