he was alone in his hotel room for a month perfecting the voice of joker and getting in the mindset of the killer. he read different books and watched a clockwork orange to truly understand his dark role.
i dont feel like typing out what is all over the internet. go find information about how/why he killed himself

he was on a lot of medication.
He just had too much at once(by mistake) and od'd. its a great movie, he was the perfect joker.
