149 BPM 64th rolls, yes or no?
I always wanted to step FAREAST HARDSTYLERZ for FFR, and during the FMO/FGO Event I wanted it to be stepped the way I always wanted it to be. Of course, the file didn't make it in. Jimerax said I could send it again for the regular batch (I'm aware that the current batch is closed, so I'm preparing for the next one).
The thing is, there are several sections in the music that contain 64th notes, and I have no clue on stepping it in any other way. So I need several experienced stepfile artists to answer this question. Should I leave the 64th rolls or should I abandon the idea of stepping the song?

The stepfile artist (I like to consider myself one ) would have to hear the song to see if it would make a good file at all.

Re: 149 BPM 64th rolls, yes or no?
64th rolls at pretty much 150 BPM? Geez.
Technically, it's correct, I'm sure. It's probably a drum roll or something. Is that fun though? Hell no - no one can hit that. I'm fairly sure people can get away with quadding it, which is what I would do. For the sake of technicality, leave it the way it is, or just omit it. 149 BPM 64th rolls? NO.
Sorry n.n; this is coming from someone who plays pad most of the time. But...if you factor in the math... 149 x 2 (8th notes) = 298 298 x 2 (16th notes) = 596 596 x 2 (32nd notes) = 1192 1192 x 2 (64th notes) = 2384 TAPS A MINUTE In turn, that's almost FOURTY TAPS a second. NOOOOOOO. XD |

I personally wish stuff like Cetaka's dumps would get onto FFR. SM is so much better filewise.

My response was pretty much a yes. Like I said, you can quad it just fine - wouldn't be too bad at all.

You're way better off making them 32nds, honestly, unless they match the difficulty of the rest of the file as 64ths.

My Hardkore Atomic file (being used in round 7 for master division) has 181 bpm 48th rolls and 24ths trills

Hmm. I think it would be better if you guys actually listened to it. I can send the mp3 to you if you need it.
Shash - Right before the 64th notes are 32nd notes, and right before the 32nd notes are 16th notes, so it doubles after every measure or half measure, so I still don't know what else I should do.

Re: 149 BPM 64th rolls, yes or no?
We need more songs that MrRubix can't AAA giving us the opportunity to have a better score than him.
Ps. We need Amber Shores on here.

Re: 149 BPM 64th rolls, yes or no?
64th rolls at 149 bpm isn't impossible, it's basically four 149 bpm jacks almost at the same time I think, since 32nd rolls are 8th jacks together. If they're not extremely long, most good players would pass/combo them.

I also started stepping this, most of the song is 8th notes then has those huge bursts.

Re: 149 BPM 64th rolls, yes or no?
The longest section of the 64th rolls is one whole measure. I'm not sure if people can handle the pressure.

I say just go for it. This song would be close to Amber Shores .8x rate but less bursts. I suck at jacks and I can A that .8x

So far pretty much everyone said yes to 64th rolls.

Re: 149 BPM 64th rolls, yes or no?
I'm thinking from the standpoint of having the file accepted by the judges, not from the standpoint of whether it would be fun/doable.
I can't say I like your chances of getting in anything with 64th rolls like that, but if you don't feel anything else fits the judges may also feel that way.
