Frankly I think it's the top of D4 that is and will find this file easy because they're AAAing VCs pretty well while there's others in the division that are barely AAAing VCs yet and will find this really difficult. There are people sitting in the teens right now and that's on multiple tries for a few that I looked into cause I was curious if it was like one play and quit deal or if they actually tried a few times.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
It's surprising to see all of the "laughable ratings" comments that I was the one who even leveraged this file to have a higher rating, and during testing I thought this file was significantly harder than last round. Considering that I am able to play these files with indifference since these files are way below my normal level of play, I honestly cannot even comprehend how Walk on Water is even close to comparable in terms of difficulty to Touch Me, considering that the file has more rigid patterns, is considerably faster, and has roughly the same density as Touch Me in the non-difficult areas. There is a lot more going on in this chart than last round, the song is considerably faster, and the pattern choices are nowhere near as friendly as last round.

Touch Me is extremely hard unless you mute it.

However, it's more like I saw it from a different angle. In case of an AAA or die situation, quickly looking at the crowd, I don't think anyone would be really pressured to AAA that. It's possible of course, say if someone has really particular problems with what we can find in the file and required to push a LOT to achieve an AAA, but overall... It doesn't seem to be so bad. Now I'm not saying "everyone who can't AAA that sucks", but a wayyyy beyond cutoff AAA fest is my prediction for this round. And it sits REALLY high at its current difficulty imo =P Surprised it's even above 50, although that's just a personnal impression tbh. Quote:
This is just a suggestion, but maybe your super ability to play the game makes you not realize these obstacles, since you would barely ever call that flowing through a pattern. Of course I'm not assuming that lol, I don't have enough experience and knowledge of different types of players to say that this is a main possibility, and I certainly don't understand files nearly as well as you, but just an hypothesis I could see as a weaker player. Also I think subin once said something about that during the 6th tourney...

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
I feel like hating on that part.
I also think Walk on Water is easier than Touch me because it only needs very small speed peaks on some parts and it's easier to deal with than accurately reading 32nd patterns but I'm biaised when it comes to 32nd so whatever.. Last edited by Hakulyte; 01-30-2013 at 10:36 AM.. |

Gah, three minutes? I can't AAA these d1 songs, my hands shake when I'm nervous. If I AAA the d2 song can that count instead?

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
Walk on Water is faster but has no patterns that were even mildly hard to read for me, while Touch Me has some patterns I can't even read.

After playing this game for years and watching the difficulty subforums it has got to be a difficult process rating these songs to account for all the different strengths. For some this song is a 50. For others it is definitely a 59. Coming to a consensus is necessary but isn't always easy. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
I'm pretty sure Walk on Water is easier than Blue Marine. That swing jumpstream at the end of Blue Marine is hella annoying. Then again, what do I know, I'm d1.

I guess the first thing I should do after AAAing myself is to find these fellow D4ers who are having trouble and try my best to help them brutalizing this file so the competition in the division can be even tighter! >=) Of course, with no pretention of being the Walk on Water guru, but more in a way of tightening rivalries with people =P

Lol. The way you guys smash those keys, I'm expecting a few rank 1's to last deep into the tournament.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
In my opinion Walk on Water is easier because it doesn't just focus on one skill set too harshly. It's a well done file honestly. I for one have only 2 lvl 59 AAAs and they're my highest AAAs which to me are much harder then Walk on Water. I'd give it myself a 54-56. The ending doesn't get insanely tricky like in Touch Me. Which was the cause of most peoples non-AAAs for round 1.
