Help with The Sims for PC.

I know the first Sims game is a little outdated, but I still love it. So I tried installing it on my new computer, and it worked out fine. But when I went to lay it, a bunch of random stuff kept popping up, like the key buttons from the top (next lot, downtown, etc) and it just kept flashing.

Do you think one of my CDs is just bad, and it's affecting it that way? Or do you think it's something with my computer? Has something similar happened to you?
