Default The [un]Lively Art of Writing

Hey guys,

We as a band formed at Oxford Academy (going into our freshman year) still have to worry about these stupid books for summer assignments. And, we have to read "The Lively Art of Writing". This is a novel written strictly about essay writing. You know, your opinions, facts, thesis statements, and so forth.

Though it is true it will help with the future. A book on essay writing, seriously?

I rate it (on a scale of 1-10), a 0.2

Strunk and White's The Elements of Style concerns that and it's an awesome book.

No offense, but I'll have to stand on the skeptical side concerning your opinion in this matter.

It doesn't matter if he read it.

You make it seem like you can't believe someone would even write a book on writing essays, and then he said he doesn't value your opinion because he read a book on just that and it was awesome. Why should value your opinion?

Also, you didn't give any solid reasoning for your judgement.

Also, if you just don't like essays, I'd suggest reading some Joseph Brodsky.

But the thing is that it was for summer assignment.

And I assume you had to write essays on it. Sounds like an easy book to write essays concerning; it teaches you how to write good essays.

We have to answer questions and do assignments within the novel.
