Default Anothing 'Looking for a good game' thread

Ok guys, I'm looking for a game I can get into. Spend a few hours on every day without getting bored or stressed.

I want my game:

-to not require a subscription
-to be creative
-to have very responsive controls
-to keep me interested, or
-to be goal oriented
-to reflect skill increase to where I can actually see it

I have a NES, Sega Genesis, (half-working) N64, (half-working) PS2, Xbox 360 that will run regular Xbox games, and a decent PC. This is not a gaming computer by any means, but it's not bad.

Here are some games I like:

-Portal
-Super Mario Bros. 1-3
-Super Mario 64
-Rayman
-Kirby and the Crystal Shards
-Halo 2 (online)
-Tribes 1 & 2
-Arcade games (Galaga, Geometry Wars.. anything with shooting and ships)
-Spyro (just the first one)
-Crash Bandicoot (first, second, racing.. any)
etc.

I'm not a huge fan of RPGs or MMORPGs. I don't like many things open to roam wherever. I waste way to much time doing nothing and become very bored.

I know hardly anyone is going to read this, and nobody is going to care, but I'm bored. I have no life. I don't intend on getting a life. So FFR, what game would you recommend for me?

@NFD:
I was making pointless comments and making a fool of myself in the process. I requested that I be banned. I said a week would be fitting, but it's up to the mod. I was supposed to award whoever banned me with credits, but I never found out who it was. It said the ban would never be lifted, and the mod told me to never come back

lul

@Dabula:
What is the game? I couldn't find an overview on the site, and Google didn't help me much.

@Commandersa1:
I play Halo 3 from time to time, but it just doesn't really do it for me like Halo 2 does. I did get into it for a period of about 2 months, though. I don't believe I've played Rayman 2, but I'll Youtube it. If it looks fun then I have something to play.

Thanks.

I know, I just wanted to hear it. Those pictures were pretty raunchy.

I dunno if this will capture your attention for hours a day, but...
http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/n_downloads.html

Basically a short-level oriented platformer where you dodge stuff to reach a certain goalpoint. There's quite a few levels in the game, and players are always coming up with more. (http://www.nmaps.net/)

@imockthepea: Will do. I just remembered I want Steam though. Half-life, Portal, all that. I love Portal. Thanks.

@Wineandbread: I beat N+ on my 360, but I haven't played the original. Maybe I'll give it a try.

@Dimitri13: Is there anything on Kongregate I can really get into? Any one specific game?

Speaking of Valve, play Half Life 2, then episodes 1 + 2

I know i've replayed Half Life 2 at least 7 times

Also if you really want some fun with your music I know Audiosurf is always going on sale, I grabbed it for like $3 the last time it was on. Its a nice music game and runs pretty smooth.

Well, if you're looking for goal-oriented play, you could just play different games to get the achievements.

If not, try the Gemcraft series. That's some badass **** right there.

I found a reeeeeeally good shooter on Kongregate. It's called RetroShoot.

@Turboyoshi: I'm stuck a few levels in on Half Life 2. I have no idea where I'm supposed to be going, and so far I don't like the game
I loved the first one though. I used to play it at midnight+ with all the lights off. I was about 9 at the time. I think I may have peed a little.

@imockthepea: Audiosurf is on the other computer. I'll play it every once in a while, but I get too wrapped up in trying to do good and I don't get into the music as much.

Try Amorphous+ on Kongregate. Gemcraft is pretty fun too actually, but I feel a nagging redundancy in it.

And I hear N+ is much easier than the original. ;P

I heard Portal is a pretty good game, I have yet to try it though.

You can also try Portal the Flash version on kongregate too.

I'll look for Amorphous+, thanks
N+ does seem a good bit easier.

@tango: I have almost all the gold medals for Portal. It's one of my favorite games of all-time. I also beat the flash version ^^

I also recommend Fancy Pants 2, which can be found in Kongregate as well. It's not terribly difficult, but it's a pretty good game.
