Should I switch to spread?
I've started to think if I should change to spread.
Should I? |

If you are interested in progressing, yes.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Except for a select few people who are amazing one handers, switching to spread will help you in the long run.
Plus, there will be lots of HARD songs comming out soon with hands(3 or 4 arrows at a time) so spread will be easier to handle those certain patterns. |

Re: Should I switch to spread?
If you don't like playing one handed, there's no reason not to switch. It does help quite a bit, but I think you should try it some first as if you were going to switch, then decide if you even like it. It does take a lot of effort to be good with one hand, but not impossible.
PS Adamaja, from my experience with SM, patterns with hands and quads aren't too difficult to handle one handed. Its almost as simple to do one handed as spread, even within streams.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Alright, now that i think of it, at least hitting 3 notes at a time should be fairly easy playing one handed. I was just thinking for 13/12 level songs with many hands, it would most likely be easier to play spread.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Obligatory post saying that spread will advance your skill farther than any other playing style, and yes you should switch to it.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
If you want, just know that you can become awesome at either style it's just that one may take more time.

Dude even One-Handers agree that Spread is easier to get better scores on. With one hand you might learn to FC if your good but with Spread you'll learn to get perfects. lol Ok jokes aside, I find it easier and more advance at the same time. |

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Spread did wonders to my FFR abilities. Now it's just a matter of practice. Although the AS KL bit someone mentioned before I find hard to do lol. I always prefer one to two spaces between both sides...but again thats a personal preference. It can very well depend on what fingers you use...for spacing terms i mean.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
I used to play one handed using three fingers. Index on left arrow, middle on up/down, and ring on right. I decided to switch to spread after a while to see what the hype was about, and I was amazed. My skills improved drastically, and I'm getting better every day. The setup I use is "dfjk" because I like the little raised bumps on the F and J, haha.
I find spread helps a lot with streams, trills and most jumps. Give it a shot, you probably won't regret it.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
spread is really to improve your timing and your PA also its hard to hit 16th streams like in {Blaze} without four fingers

Re: Should I switch to spread?
I tried spread before, and my left hand does not like 424242424 continuously, and jacks are somewhat really easy now

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Some left-handed patterns in FFR kill me, but the good far outweigh the bad.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
When I played one-handed, I was stuck on tricky songs, but when I switched. I started playing difficult/VD songs. It takes about one to two weeks to get use to it. Best decision you will make though.
I agree.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Lol time to defend one handers, as I feel I must.
@Lar: It's not that hard to get perfects one handed. Or AAAs. Etude to a Dragon, and Robotix AAAs, as well as SDGs on songs like Mute city, GB3, Nanairopanda, TGWP4, Evil Approaches, Tribal Transcendency, Seven, and Botm, and BFs on songs like secrets and lies, Z, ruins, Tambourin, and Video Out A. Not even many spread players can do some of that. I'll admit that beyond a VC song it gets somewhat annoying to PA though. @xin: lol Blaze? Thats a piss easy SDG, I actually was considerin AAAing it before. IDK what you're thinking. I'm still on the side of switching, I just felt SOMEONE had to defend the one handers.

Re: Should I switch to spread?
Go for it! I don't like ASKL because I accidentally hit the windows button showing the start menu and messing up my game. I play with CV,. Easy for me to locate and for my fingers, it's easier to do streams and what not. You will get better at 16th jumps like on PLANETZ and Sympathizer. However, you'll be complaining about not being able to do 1 handed trills. Those are the "left and down" and "up and right" trills. Good luck my friend! You'll kick ass once you master spread.
