Re: everclear dump pack+
Maybe you should submit files to a pack first before going solo, that way people can find out how good you are and hopefully get some feedback on your shit files.

Now I'm mostly stepping stuff for other packs to get experience, both in terms of files being rejected or accepted, and the feedback given. I highly recommend submitting to other packs and getting experience and feedback.

Re: everclear dump pack+
Greetings my fellow 20-something internet trolling StepMania artist that lives 100 miles from me. Two questions. A: Did you even play the pack? B: Would you like to volunteer in hosting any of the 100+ songs I've stepped in one of your packs? For some reason I feel as if it's just a wee bit more worthwhile to put effort into something rather than trashing your friends. It would take like 20 seconds to add any of my enjoyable, completed charts to one of your overrated packs but it never happens which is why I've already embarked down the road of entrepreneurialism. Not my personal choice, but like-minded peers are just so mysteriously hard to come by these days.
sum1 come flip this thread in the right direction, where my dawgs at? get real antonach. it's just not possible that all of the songs i've stepped are "shit". probably the only thing wrong with my stepmania legacy is that i primarily use overcommercialized music rather than biting the bullet and creating my own music with Frooty Loops. I am aware of this and my counterpoint is that there is already millions of songs available online and thus encapsulates a broader spectrum of enjoyment. Same question for you amigo. Did you play my pack? Also, your post was worded in a way that people reading this thread would think it was my files that are painful and unworthy. Not the case. He's not saying the songs you pick are bad. He's saying your stepping skills aren't any good.

I read what he said blindrep...
yeah everclear is cool. song choice is cool. let's get that out the way.. it's on the record that he did not insult everclear, he insulted me... just so everyone knows that.. i'm with it. i'm all for getting scapegoated. let's hear it for all of the hardworking individuals involved except for Travis. *golf clap* Last edited by Travis_Flesher; 10-22-2017 at 01:56 PM.. |

Re: everclear dump pack+
right dour.. that's what i just said.. comparing your files to mine and insulting them in my thread is poor netiquette. go agree with arntonach in his megapack thread cuz I was kind of trying to be the 'bigboi victim' with people who maybe wanted to add a few cool songs to their library and move on with their day.

Re: everclear dump pack+
lmao with the drama
Dude, I'll dl the pack right now and tell you whether or not I think it was a bad idea; I've headed a few packs now, so my opinion must mean a little something by now. I will say I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment, though: "I highly recommend submitting to other packs and getting experience and feedback [before creating your own pack]." Context and experience, buddy, is always a good thing! Remember, you are giving this to a community of people. The pack can be great to you, but as soon as you release to the public it is subject to criticism, and if people thinks the pack deserves it, praise. |

Re: everclear dump pack+
Yes, it was a bad idea.
In the context of Stepmania, it's packs, its theory, and anything else that may be related to it; yes, it was a bad idea. (going to be as objective as possible) Here's why: 1) First, four files does not constitute a pack; it never has, and never will. If you want to do a minipack, you're looking at a minimum of 10 files, I might even push it to 15 files. 2) You have yet to master, or even, it seems, to acknowledge sync. Listen, I understand that there are many different kinds of dump files (very few people know this better than I do), and certainly there are free-form dumps where sync is not taking into consideration, but I can tell you right now, your audience is cut substantially because of it. Looking at the first file in the pack, I thought to myself: "this is actually kind of interesting, and he seems to have a sort-of intuition which might be able to evolve into something fun and playable in the future." But that's thing, as of right now, it is not. This could have been gleaned by submitting to packs and having people tell you this. *Looks concernedly at Dour* 3) There is no file diversity. None of these files have any identity at all; they are literally all the same. Here is why: it should be obvious to anyone who has even charted that you are utilizing the record r feature. Not only this, but you have it set to 64th rhythms. Not only this, but you set the bpm, it seems as default, to 60 bpm. You ignore all rhythmic diversity that the song may hold in its essence by doing this. This static approach to charting has destroyed any and all chances of having files that are memorable and interesting. We all have our own biases when we tap out on record r. Yours are showing in every single measure of every excruciating second. 4) Song choice is lackluster; there is no song diversity either. No one wants to play a pack where every song is the same. Even when packs do a theme, the people who head them are usually aware of diversity within the genre. This group does not possess the kind of musical diversity needed to have a whole "pack" centered around their songs. Listen, these files mean something to you, and that's great. Don't let anyone take the love of something away from you. All I am saying is that you need to be more aware of what you are doing, and what you are a part of. You will not see any success in this community as a step file author if you continue to chart in this way. * learn how to sync * actively learn about rhythms * view others' files in ddream to get an idea of patterning and what you like. * begin to form your identity as a stepfile author and send to other packs. This is the best advice I can give you. I think everyone has potential, like in anything else, you have to work and learn to reach it. @Arntonach: I respect you a lot dude, and think you are great, but just shitting on someone never helped anyone do anything. Re: everclear dump pack+
Whatever lofty you started drooling like pavlovs dog with that speech once you saw how I defended myself against antronach.
Curious to know what kind of praise you do give when a veteran's file somehow meets your elitist gimmicky standards. I can SDG all of my files at rate no problem with a smile on my face, yet they're 'unsynced'? How is getting all amazings to the beat of a drum unsynced bro? i feel like a cheesy action film star having to brush away the endless mob of thugs. don't listen to these long winded trolls guys. everclear minipack is ownage! Re: everclear dump pack+
looking at me is too much pressure im not good in social situations
jokes aside, I made a HUGE mistake in how I went about things, and I will whole heartedly admit that, and wouldn't want anyone making the same mistakes I did with my minipacks, and I encourage submitting to other packs, getting feedback, and learning from mistakes as you grow as a stepartist. My writing wasn't intended to call the files in the pack shit (even if I personally think the files aren't to my taste), I just forgot to remove Arntonach's statement on that section so it may have implied that. My writing was moreso trying to mention that my mistakes should be a warning for people to not repeat what I did.

Mediocrity is the largest demographic. If you can lead mediocrity, the upper class will follow.
