Magic the Gathering
Does anyone play this game currently? My friends got me into it again with the start of Guildpact and made me go to every FNM now, even though I made this really janking Mono White Tron deck with Storm Herd as the kill, it placed me 5th out of about 15 people last friday.

Re: Magic The Gathering
I used to play quite a bit back in 7th edition, but after that things got too ridiculous for my liking, even though I started in and around the time of Psychatog. I still own a Mono blue wizard control.

Re: Magic The Gathering
I play it every summer. At Boyscout camp, everyone plays. So I take my box of cards I qaccrued at age 11, trade to make a deck, and play for the summer. Then put it back into the box at the end. I would spend way too much money on it otherwise.
I have a killer Green Mana Acceleration Stomp deck. |

Re: Magic The Gathering
Welcome to Junior year of high school. I was so into MTG. My friends and I would go to the comic shop and play MTG all day. It was probably the nerdiest time of my life. Hell, we even went to the Fifth Dawn pre-release.
But I dont play anymore and I havent for quite some time. I still have all my cards though...and my gigantic novelty 20 sided die. |

Re: Magic The Gathering
I used to play 2 years ago, and I have 1 friend that participates in tournaments, still. As far as I know, he has insane combos that he can pull off, like infinite/infinite zombies. Insane.

I played for a short while. But I enjoyed Legend of the Five Rings much more.

That card game?
I make fun of people who play that in my school. What a waste of time.

Re: Magic The Gathering
The last cardgame i played was YuGiOh back in 6th grade. I still have most of the cards in fact. I was going to try auctioning them on ebay but my dad wouldnt let me..said they might go back in style again. Of course that never happens in card games based on TV shows so i lost a whole lot of money. Some of those cards cost 40-50 bucks, especially the 'destiny board' card, which in play was extremely hard to use effectively. I was going to give up on card games altogether and maybe play Dungeons and Dragons, but i never got into it. I dont see it happening soon either, im pretty busy...

Re: Magic The Gathering
I have played MTG TCG, but I went into Yu-Gi-Oh. I had to choose only one TCG because keeping up with both would mean spending an absurd amount of money. I liked Yu-Gi-Oh because it has more raw power. I would like to see an 8/8 Vesara the Dreadfull attack a 3000/2500 Blue-Eyes White Dragon. Instant game over and a powerful humiliation on the MTG Tournaments. That is like 3 years worth of losses if you played in a weekly tournament. For those who do not get the point of this game, it may be based over just a card game, but the values are priceless. I know a card called Cyber-Stein (World Tournament Winner's Edition) and it is worth over $4000. Not to mention the fact over the many different tournaments that you can win cash from. TCG's are becoming less popular in play, but outrageously popular in the secondary market.

Re: Magic The Gathering
I used to play a lot, now not so much.
I have a deck that wins on turn 2 about 70% of the time. Back when I played, my friends banned me from playing it, quite justifiably ^_^

I make fun of people too.
Actually, I don't make fun. I walk up and "tap" all their cards. Especially their library. Another fun thing to try: "tap" cards when the people are playing yugioh. That's the best.

Re: Magic The Gathering
I started playing Magic back in Revised. Played for several years, but then realized what a great waste of money it was after Alliances and Homelands came out (read: two of the worst expansons, ever).
The game's still great, and I still have my black deck and friend's elf deck and will play if anyone's ever up for it, but I quit long before fifth edition came around. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Re: Magic The Gathering
Jewpin actually got me into magic. I still play it to this day. I'm rocking a killer black blue Dimir deck now and am almost through with my red blue deck. I go to tournaments every saturday.
I must have at least 10,000 cards now. Lots of money in them pieces of cardboard.

Re: Magic The Gathering
I have a few of the cards.
I win a card or two from my cousin whenever he comes over, idiot thinks he can beat me in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. He is always wrong. Ah, the glory of taking all his cards... *thoughtful sigh* 'Tis a wonderful thing. The phrase for when a game is over is this: pwnd. |

Re: Magic The Gathering
When I was like 7 I bought a booster pack just because I thought they looked cool.
And to this day, my friends and I make a magical gathering, an assembly of M:TG and YuGiOh, and we play bouts of the ultimate game; Holographic Slap Jack. |
