Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
You've got to be kidding me. The conversation has shifted back to wavedashing AGAIN?
Anyway, new updates... A Kirby song, Metaknight's specials, and Spectator mode. The song isn't anything special, and Metaknight's specials have been seen previously, though they haven't been described before. Standard B is a tornado-type attack that can be moved horizontally, with some vertical lift. Side B is a multi-hit drill attack that can change direction based on control stick input. Up B is similar to Marth's Dolphin Slash. Down B is interesting. It seems to grant momentary invisibility and invincibility, and can be moved short distances in any direction. After MK disappears, a short while later he reappears in the desired direction and does a slash attack. Seems sort of like Counter but with a guaranteed hit and not as easy to punish. And then we've got spectator mode. Using the online feature, you can watch random matches that have been played and collected by Nintendo. You can bet coins on certain characters and get paid back for winning, and you also get heaps of stickers. Could be a fun way to pass the time. Last edited by Relambrien; 11-17-2007 at 07:23 PM.. |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
But here's my question. Why would you buy this game only to watch other people play? You might as well go to local tournaments that certain organizations hold and watch them rather than sit in your house all day.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Ok... I've gone around to all of my pro Melee friends (not many) and asked them what wavedashing is, but none of them knew. I didn't ask on this cause I didn't want to go and say, "yeah, I'm a pro at Melee, but I don't know what wavedashing is." Now I just don't care, so...
What the hell is wavedashing?!? |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Wave-dashing is when you constantly and consistently do an air-dodge close to the ground (best effective with Luigi). Its an annoying technique that makes your opponent work his/her ass off trying to hit you and KO you for being such a chicken. There's a 90% chance that you won't get hit when doing this technique, only problem? You can't attack. Wave-dashing has been disabled in Brawl so don't worry about it.
Also if you wanna see it in action, just go to Youtube and type in Wave-dashing. You'll get alot of results for it.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Last I checked the spectator feature was just that, a feature.

Well feature or no feature. If you buy that game, you must fight or return it to the store because I wouldn't waste $50 just to watch other people kill each other.

btw once the people who are very good at brawl are established on the internet, it may be more convenient to watch good people play while sitting on your couch rather than going out to a tournament to see people with random skill levels play. |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
The only updates that I'm looking forward to right now are ones that tell about newcomers or stages. I really don't care about the features seeming that we'll find them out later once we get the game.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
I wonder, given that wavedashing looks to have been specifically made not-doable in this game, whether that implies that it wasn't intended behavior in melee too...

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Wave dashing may have been a development error seeing that you couldn't do a side-step dodge let alone an air dodge in Smash 64. But I think Nintendo figured it out and decided to fix that problem. (Or someone must of complained to customer service and that's how they found out.)

Well, it's going to be a little boring without it, but it's worth the sacrifice to make this game better. Besides, I bet something good will happen tomorrow. Maybe newcomer, but it seems highly doubtful for now.

By the way Buttoxin, you and your friends aren't 'pros' at SSBM if they don't know what wavedashing or shffling is. Sorry. Wavedashing only takes like a week or less to get good at, by the way. and the game's been out for how long? Anyways, not like it matters since wavedashing most likely won't be possible in SSB:B's engine.

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
wavedashing is out from Brawl from what I heard of. If anyone thinks thier pros at Melee, don't think you'll be pros right away in Brawl. Brawl has a whole new game play to it including new advance techs.

The IC's FS has been announced. It's called Iceberg and it, of course, makes an iceberg appear. I was hoping it would be an avalanche...

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
First of all, advanced techniques DO NOT make you pro. They only raise your offense, defense, and over-all speed. They do not make you a good player. If you want to know what does, just ask.
Second, I wonder if you can use this smash if you've lost Nana? That'd certainly suck. I wouldn't think so, but the the high-five part makes me wonder. o.O EDIT: Wavedashing was discovered by the beta testers of Melee, but they didn't think it would have such a large impact on the game if people found out about it. They were very wrong. lol I expected to see it gone, because I had assumed it wasn't in the developers "vision" of what smash is suppose to be. It is sad they didn't just make it something like If airdodging=true & collide with ground then movement=none(horrid example, but you get the idea lol). So we could still airdodge in a direction, because being able to do so gave a big advantage during recovering.. but now you just continue falling.. WTF? It's stupid, if you ask me. I think they should've accepted what wavedashing has become for the community, but it's not a big deal that it's gone. I doubt anyone is going to accidently try wavedash, thinking they can, in Brawl during a fight. Though, a waveland has already been discovered in the demo. Mario can do it by doing a bair as he lands on the ground. He slides about as far as he did doing a waveland in Melee. = Last edited by RoastedNoob; 11-19-2007 at 02:20 AM.. |

Re: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
I don't like the ice climbers' final smash, being an ice climber-user and all, I think it's as pointless as Peach's final smash. Sure it MAY freeze you and cause the ledges to become more slippery, but so far, it looks lame. All smashes do. All except sonic's, pikachu's, and mario's. I wasn't expecting to use them so that's just lame for me.

ATTN: THREAD
Allow me to say this right here, right now. Talking about wavedashing is sure to cause problems. It always does. If the word was banned from this thread entirely I wouldn't mind. For your sakes and mine, please, PLEASE stop discussing wavedashing, and Melee advanced techs unless they relate to Brawl in some way. By this I don't mean "[technique] will be removed in Brawl lololo," but more like "By fastfalling before using an aerial, you can cancel all landing lag from the aerial, similar to shffling from Melee." Comparisons/Contrasts = good Complaints/Non-Brawl discussion = bad Now I don't have any power to stop you from doing these things, mind, but I implore you, PLEASE stop discussing the subject. |
