RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Parents.
My parents don't know really anything about my online habits. They like to think they have my life pretty sheltered but they don't know much about me. They would probably know more about places I go to online if I made real friends online and talked to them on the phone and stuff. Maybe I should try and get more socially involved. Who wants to be my special friend?

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Parents.
They wouldn't care, probably don't know I specifically use FFR but know I talk to people online. Actually last..April I believe it was, I met an online friend I'd talked to for about 3 years with my father on the way down on a church mission trip, hung out with him all day when I arrived and then spent the night at his house at the end of the week. Yeah, my parents are really laid back >.>

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Parents.
(My parents after hearing my start to play a song on stepmania)
"Joe, if you keep playing that game, you're going to get (I keep forgeting how to spell...carpel tunnel?)." (My parents after just getting on the computer) "You're going to hurt your shoulder if you sit with your arm up at that mouse all day." (My parents after me looking at the screen) "Why don't you give your eyes a rest?" Suddenly the computer is the cause of all life's problems. |

My parents just don't really care about what I do on the computer unless it
is "naughty" so i don't do that so they have nothing to fear. But when their computer won't work and mine does they get mad and start yelling at me to stop downloading porn. Which i don't do

My parents have NO idea I am a major FFR member, though they know I like it.
And they think I am like a major porn person, and keep on hinting at it when I comment on a virus. What idiots....

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Parents.
I just told my Mom a few days ago.
Apparently she had no idea I was on Message Boards since I was 10. BUT ANYWAY: I think she'll get over it, but I hope she doesn't see the phone bill XD. When we talked about the Message Boards she was like, you didnt give our phone number did you? She said it just like out of the blue, we weren't even talking about phone calls. And I was like no...>_>. |

Trust me, I thought my parents wouldn't see it, but they did. I swear, parents are nazis. I was able to convince my mom that FFR is one of the safest websites to chat on. It is, to me. FFR chat is nothing like AOL chat. I think it kind of relieves her that i told her i was a mod and that people wouldn't mess with me :O

Let's see.. My mom lives in Las Vegas, and my dad lives about 4 hours away in D.C.; nope no real issues here. My parents really don't have any say in what I do, nor is it any of their business; nor do they know. :P
That sucks with the phonebill though Eva, you should get a cellphone with anytime minutes.. Cellphones are great... |

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Parents.
I use my "pay-as-you-go" cell phone for all the calls I make, that way we don't get a phone bill. They'd kill me if they knew I was talking on the phone with "INTERNET PEOPLE", because everyone knows that even though it's a girls voice, it's really a 40 year old molester on his way to rape me as I'm talking on the phone with "him."

Conversation me and my mom had two minutes ago:
"who are you talking to" "someone I know on the forums" "*silence*" "I know, you remember that website and your like why would he put his picture on a website? Thats him" "ok" "You know not everyone on the internet is 50 years old" "whatever" This shows you my mom doesn't care anymore XD. |

My parents are weirded out sometimes when I mention online friends. They know I frequent many forums (only lately at this one). They know I play DDR (and sometimes join in). They don't quite understand the point of FFR or Stepmania, but don't comment about it often.
They're extremely strict with my little sister about chatting and stuff (but she is 11.) With me, they trust that I know what I'm doing more than they do, so they don't bug me about it too much. The only thing they complain about is when I'm on the phone with Tass for too long. All this will change when I move out (Dec. 20, yay!) and they will have no say in anything.

Yes, my mother knows I go to FFR. She just doesnt get the concept of being an "admin."
My mom does know what I listen to in terms of music. My mom does know that I watch Anime (in fact, she bought me my first Anime Movie Ghost in the Shell for Christmas...though she didnt know that within the first 5 minutes there is nudity, and a guy's head explodes") My mom DOESNT know during summer I stayed online until 6 in the morning. She DIDNT know that I also called some fellow FFR members over summer...until she saw the $100+ phone bill with calls to New York, Viriginia, Illinois, and Texas. |

My parents don't really care anymore. It's not like if they did it'd make a difference, what with me living on campus.
Besides, I'm pretty sure I could handle myself if someone was "stalking" me.

I've seen both ends of the internet chatting thing... ;D from thinking i loved a 27 year old, to falling in love with a 15 year old ^^; i didnt tell my mom about the 27 year old thing till about a month ago, which was years after the fact, she didnt seem to care, because i was over it, she came with me the first time i went to meet the 15 year old (now 17) ^^, and its been almost a year and a half, and i still talk to her for hours a day ont he phone, my dad on the other hand, has never known a single thing about my life, nor anyone ive ever talked to. The best friends of my life have been attained through the internet. It's just a much more confortable atmosphere for me, and i think its pretty damn easy to tell the difference between a teenager, and a 40 year old man pretending to be one.
All in all, my mom knows mostly everything, she's ok with it, but still claims the computer has completely ruined my life, and my social funcionality. She even found a book claiming that the internet stunts social growth. But hey, fuck that, its a different age, computers are the main communication tool for the kiddo's today. And i've been invited to visit/live with at least a dozen people ive met online... all being very sincere, probably because i overdramatize my life. Oh well? ^^ Parents will always be nazi's, if they care. |

My parents stopped caring about anything I do online long ago.
The fact that I have a computer in my room (a room which my parents never enter unless absolutely necessary) means I can do anything I want anyways. |
