Nomina Nuda Tenemus [81 or 80]
First off, looking at the stats of NNT:
Difficulty: 81 Release Date: 02-05-09 Song Length: 1:31 Number of AAAs: 36 Number of FCs: 479 Number of Players: 6,545 Compared to other 81s: Across Rooftops Difficulty: 81 Release Date: 12-24-08 Song Length: 3:01 Number of AAAs: 19 Number of FCs: 378 Number of Players: 8,620 11ELEVEN Difficulty: 81 Release Date: 12-24-10 Song Length: 2:01 Number of AAAs: 13 Number of FCs: 217 Number of Players: 5,359 As you can see, NNT's AAA count doesn't really fit with the other 81s, and although it has more players than 11ELEVEN (having around 1,100 less players). More players have played Across Rooftops, but NNT has more AAAs and FCs nonetheless. The general structure of NNT is fairly simple, around 180-190 BPM 16th jumpstream. Although the patterns are pretty difficult, jumpstreams at the that speed can be found in files like Pants (79), which has worse patterns, but less dense. There are only two bursts in NNT, and they're around 4 notes long. Similar bursts can be found in Lolo, though the bursts in NNT are faster. They can be hit as flams, and they aren't as complex as ones in Jamais Deux (80) or mutant corecore (80). The second half of it is mainly anchor jumpstream. Although are some fairly nasty short one handed trills in there, it's mostly easy to hit and read in general. Overall, NNT is mostly basic in structure, and the file itself isn't hard enough to be considered an 81 imo, since parts of the file are found in easier files. It doesn't fit with the other 81s either, and I don't think it'll be out of place with the 79s/80s. Last edited by EzExZeRo7497; 12-8-2012 at 10:59 AM.. |

I always thought 81 was a little high for NNT. I definitely see it as more of an 80.

Yeah, NNT is much easier than AR and 11ELE imo ;d
these 32nd are the most pain in the ass imo, rest of file is very friendly 80 or even less for sure ;d |

Would you believe me if I find that song a lot harder for some reason?
Looking at it, it's not overly mean, but I seem to derp a lot when playing it. |

It's hard to rate files in this range because they all test different skills it seems like. When you compare it to Integraation, it's a no brainer. NNT is clearly easier. Yet Integraation feels incredibly out of place. It just doesn't have the firepower to be an 83 (although 82 might work), yet it is so freakin hard to play. I think 80 works here. I find it easier than 11ELEVEN by a long way, yet harder than some other 81s. I don't know.
I love debating songs in this range though. It is interesting to hear how people excel (or not) at different patterns.

I think it is a 80, because if I look at the list of 80 songs, I feel like it belongs in the same class.

Re: Nomina Nuda Tenemus [81 or 80]
I've been wanting to tweak a lot of songs in the 79-82 range recently (but bmah or jx might kill me if I message them with a list of tweaks to make because they're a pain to change while keeping song/difficulty order in the engine). NNT's one of them. Would totally be cool with this being an 80. It wouldn't play much higher than a 77 imo if those 32nd spikes were removed, so 81 was probably too high of a rating to begin with.
edit: just for shits, others include Love & Justice 80 -> 79, Bathwater/Nosedive 80 -> 79, Level Skip 79 -> 78, and 12BB 82 -> 83 (might be missing one or two off the top of my head) Wanted to knock NaiNai down to 78 but people have already unlocked Scarhand off it. Knocking it out of unlock range at this point would be unfair imo. Anyways, +1 for 80. |

I personally don't mind leaving Love and Justice the way it is. One of those Bird's songs is a bitch and a half to me personally (Dossar's chart) and I feel like it's an 82/83, but that's just my personal opinion. It'd be fine getting knocked down to 79, in all honesty. The structure is really bursty and easy to blast through even as a lower level player. Agree with the last two (Level Skip/12BB), though. As far as NNT, yeah, an 80 seems alright. It's not all that bad aside from those horrendously placed 32nd bursts. |
