Re: Wrists raised or planted
Wrists raised for more speed. This allows you to "cheat" patterns with wrist and arm motions as well as finger motions, giving you the ability to do faster stuff.
Wrists planted for greater control. This cements your arms in place and makes the stroke of each finger a set distance from the contact point of the key, allowing for consistency. Since I usually play speed files, I typically have my wrists raised.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I typically play with my wrists planted. I seem to have greater accuracy that way. If I play with my wrist raised, I'll have more speed, but my accuracy just goes out the window and I get tired in like less than 30 seconds, lol. Although, if I'm desperate enough, I'll occasionally give wrists-raised a try for portions of some songs. I use my laptop keyboard, so my wrists are planted at the same elevation as my keys (since I rest my wrists on the part of the laptop below the keyboard, to the left and right of the mouse-thingy); that's why I'm worried about getting an external keyboard since I'm afraid my wrist elevation relative to the keys would change, thus affecting my playing ability.
EDIT: I'll take pics later. |

I wish I had 3 hands like you, then maybe I'd be better at this game.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
My arms rest higher than my body, because it's a well known fact that if your arms are below your hands, you will start to cramp up, and do poorly on songs. I do both raised and planted. Im pretty much like hi19.

Planted for jacks, raised for intense streaming/jumpstreaming. Keeping my wrists raised allows me to MA 250+ streams with jumps on every quarter note; planted allows me to wrist jack with stability.
If I need to do extreme jumptrilling/combat walls, I start raised and eventually end up planted. |

It varies throughout game play. Sometimes I play with my wrists on the table, sometimes they're in the air. I guess it all depends on the song.

Re: Wrists raised or planted
I play like subin, arms flat to my desk, keyboard pushed as far as I can. I usually have my wrists lifted a bit though, often my left wrist anchored and my right one lifted, I alternate sometimes. I'm weird for the planting. My desk is unusually high, so it's really awkward if I don't sit right, I almost always have to put a leg under me to prop myself up a bit more so it feels like the right height. My chair doesn't go any higher. I'm not even kidding, my desk is really high up. It's the kind of desk that usually has a keyboard tray, but it doesn't have one installed. I actually really like the desk though. Higher is better imho.
