I have played on Unicorn and Bahamut servers, but it just wasn't worth the monthly fee to me. I wasted so much money on this game for very little value...
I don't think we have many people on FFR who play, and with the number of servers there are, I don't think it's very likely that you'll find people to play with you. Sorry :/ I know there are a number of FFXI communities you can visit though, and find friends through there.
