I really want to see that film, I didn't see it advertised over here though so I didn't know when it was being shown. Ill rent it sometime, I love Al Gore...

I know i'm no saint when it comes to this issue, but my (parents) house uses low energy light bulbs (which are cheaper in the long term anyway) and we recycle all we can so were not awful. Although we do use two petrol guzzling cars everywhere we go...

Not really, this has been an issue for as long as anyone can remember. You telling us to check out that preview for Al Gore's movie will not make people suddenly want to recycle and be vegetarian and many other things which are supposedly the way towards saving the planet.

Unhappy Re: Pease Watch This!

I've seen the whole film on youtube 2 weeks ago...
Yeah that's a cool think, but we could shorten it in 3 words... :

"COČ is bad"

Sadly, I don't think it's possible to stop the global warming. Even if we reduce the production of CO2, in 500 years, a lot of county will be flooded, there won't be island anymore, ect...

It'll be a real problem, because the population will try to move in country wich aren't flooded... a lot of people won't have job, house, and there won't be enough hospital for all thos people

You just gotta face facts, people will not ever completely start caring for the planet no matter how many times you tell them to. There is always going to be a big chunk of the population that wont care at all about it either way and never do anything.

Btw, CO2 is not a word... it is two letters and a squared symbol that represents the gas Carbon Dioxide. Although i totally got what you are saying and i really dont have any idea why i am making any kind of fuss about it at all.

The only way people will care for the environment is if it's personally beneficial.

The way global warming works pretty much means most people won't care.

The only thing I can think of right off the top of my head is to give tax breaks or cash bonuses to people who recycle. Or pushing the use of LED light bulbs, since those are amazing (running one 8 hours a day for an entire year will cost $0.80 for the year on your electric bill). Again, the only way to get people to care is if you prove to them that it's worth their while.

Good luck with that. Most people won't even bother with mail-in rebates these days.

I thought mods locked threads for starting CT threads without saying anything...

Anyway, how much has the temperature changed? We had a warm as hell Christmas this year, but I read in the newspaper that we were still 20 degrees colder than the record set in the 80s. If global warming was such a problem, wouldn't every year be warmer than the one preceding it? Really, the temperature isn't changing that much, and I do believe I read somewhere that the slight change in temperature can easily be connected to the Earth's naturally changing climate.

And for anyone thinking recycling is good, check out the Penn & Teller Bull**** episode about it. Very informative.

In the end, I'm all for treating the planet nicely, but it's not like if we don't treat it good the temperature will raise up to 200 degrees.

ps "COČ"? Hahaha! Ever taken a chemistry class ever? It's "CO₂". Superscripts are not used in that way. They use subscripts for that.

I live in Indiana far from the coastline. I'd be hit by something else.

Yeah, I forgot that superscript numbers are standard for keyboards but subscript numbers are not.
