Do you guys still remember the ol' Necros? I stopped playing keyboard for a long while (and played a lot of ITG instead), but i'm glad to see that everything seems to be still alive and kicking around here

I think i'll start playing again and who knows, maybe i'll try to make some simfiles for the game too.

Can someone enlighten me about the latest dark chancellors sheningans? latest good simfile packs? The community? What's going on in the arrowsmashing world?

YEAH ABOUT TIME

dark chancellors died cuz erryone's against elitism, so there are a dumpload of other packs as a consequence.

If you do pick up SM again regularly, try these ones out:

Xoon 5
Light chancellors pack 2+3
FFR Community Pack seasons series

I'll summarize everything that has happened after you left in point form:
>DCP2 merged with FFRCP3 which then merged into Xoon 5
>Light Chancellors were created and I lead it for 3 megapacks
>I got tired of all the elitist bullshit that was driving away people and basically yelled and bitched at everyone. In the process, I disbanded the Light Chancellors and destroyed almost all remnants of elitism created by the Chancellors. Basically the Chancellor era took SM into the wrong direction and I needed to do something about it before it got way out of hand.

tl;dr the simfile side of the community is booming—we are pumping out MORE simfiles and packs than ever before. Dumpfile megapacks only take up a small fraction of what has been churned out in just the past couple of years. Naysayers that say SM is dead clearly don't pay attention to what happens around them quite frankly.

Also FFRCP Summer 2012 released a couple months ago. I don't plan on doing Autumn/Winter 2012 packs however—people seem to be tired of the excessive amounts of packs that have been churned out in the past like 18 months and even I myself am growing weary of taking the responsibility of assembling them (I'm also tight with free time once school rolls around).

I remember Necros, my first experience of you was you dissing one of my files on bemanistyle (I forget which, it was like remember december or ravine road or something? it was in my pre-layering era) and thinking a-yo was the height of technical brilliance lol
and it had some 32nds that should have been 24ths, but I didn't realize it for years
(lol)

speaking of 'getting people into the game', I just heard osu is going to have a stepmania mode in the future, and given how everything about osu is better than every other rhythm game emulator in every way, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets a lot of people playing stepmania
