Re: Alright, i'm buying a Wii
Great games for the DS include:
(in no order) 1. Metroid Prime Hunters 2. Brain Age 3. Castlevania You'll be happy with the purchase of either of these three |

The DS is great. How you could call it a paperweight I seriously don't understand.

WarioWare: Touched is a must, as well as.. I dunno. Bomberman is fun, but mostly for its awesome multiplayer (same goes for Mario Kart). I don't own Metroid Hunters but I've played it and thats really fun.

Re: Alright, i'm buying a Wii
Okay, Metroid Prime: Hunters isn't good unless you can access wireless and you haven't played a decent multiplayer FPS game in your life. Single player also stinks. Overall it's not that great.
LostMagic is only so-so. There are better games, but hey--it's the second best RPG for the DS (excluding the GBA games you can buy listed below) out of the four there really are. Yup, the DS isn't really loaded on RPGs. You'll need to go to the GBA for that. Avoid Animal Crossing. You'll probably get bored of it like the rest of FFR. If you want an RPG go for Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. Great game. No questions. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is amazing, and you should like it. It's an adventure game (like Myst. Okay it's nothing like Myst but I'm just saying that it's one of those games), not an RPG, but it's good none-the-less and you should enjoy it. Now onto non-RPGs... Mario Kart is the game I've been playing the longest and still play a bit of. You just need to get yourself into time trials and you're hooked. Plus it's the best WiFi game (never got my hands on Tetris DS's WiFi though) because it's not completely retarded like Metroid Prime's lack of anything that makes it playable for a long time. New Super Mario Bros. is pretty good. I got it and it's fun. It's worth considering at the least. If you want a platformer, this should be your first option. Other good games worthy of a mention include:
Last but not least, GBA games you can go buy used copies of (or emulate). All of these are RPGs:

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time is pretty good. You'll enjoy it if you like intuitive and quirky RPGs. DEFINITELY get Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Trauma Center: Under the Knife. Both are crazy fun. Phoenix Wright puts you in the shoes of a lawyer. I don't know why it's so amazing, but I sure as hell love it. That, and yelling "Objection!" in public places is great. Trauma Center is probably the most innovative use of the touch technology yet, and it'll keep you occupied for hours. Definitely a good pick-up. For Wi-Fi, you MUST get Tetris DS and Mario Kart DS. Both have little replay value without Wi-Fi (because you've seen it all before, obviously). Playing them both over Wi-Fi makes it so much more fun, because your opponents are very rarely the same, so you never know what to expect. Trying to jack up your win ratios and ratings is crazy fun in itself, too. Online rankings and such make it more addicting. I hear Metroid Prime: Hunters is good, too, but only for Wi-Fi. Make sure you get a second opinion on that one, because I don't have it, nor do I plan to pick it up. I've only played about three stages of New Super Mario Bros., and love it. If you like platformers, definitely get it. Sonic Rush is also a good choice as a platformer. The only thing I disliked was the voices of Tails and Cream. I literally turned off my DS and played something else when Tails welcomed me back for the first time. K, I'm going to finish up hijacking carbo's post there and just throw in my support for a few of the GBA RPGs he mentioned (which you can play on your DS): * Fire Emblem * Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones * Final Fantasy Tactics Advance * Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga * MMBN 2 All I have played and enjoyed. Double endorsement = win. You're all set. Now you have to decide if you have enough money to buy all the crap we've suggested for you. [thread hijack]Oh, and Carbo, about Yoshi's Island 2... I'm just as excited as you about it. It looks exactly the same in terms of style. But... it's not being handled by the same developer. I'm hopeful it lives up to the high standards of the first one (a lofty goal). Oh, and there's going to be a new Phoenix Wright. Jump for joy, murder case enthusiasts![/hijack]

Re: Alright, i'm buying a Wii
Yeah, I forgot about Trauma Center: Under the Knife. I never played it, but I heard it's good.
[more hijacking]Yeah, I loved the first. It has always been my favorite Mario platformer ever since I got it for the SNES Anyone with the slightest eye for quality should fall in love with the excellent level design. In terms of graphical style, YI2 remains true to the original. Let's just hope the excellent level design is, as well![/hijacking]
