Re: Without Bees...
Yeah, so how are we going to die without bees?
They help flowers reproduce. Yeah, we don't eat Roses. So what? ps I'm being serious, I don't see how bees are necessary for our survival.

It's called the circle of life. Everything has to work together for everyone and everything to live.

Re: Without Bees...
Thank you for answering my question.
Alright, so without bees we don't have flowers, without flowers we're overrun with grass (from the weeds being gone), extra grass will cause the cow population to grow, and then I'm stuck. I don't see what having too many cows does.

Re: Without Bees...
Cows will produce more methane, which will make the ozone layer bigger, which will let rays come in which will cause global warming which will cause glaciers to melt which will flood us...?

Re: Without Bees...
Bee's is a vital part of the ecosystem.
If bee's die out .. well it would do some heavy damage |

Re: Without Bees...
Just reading the title, I thought this was about the Birds and the Bees. Then, it would be obvious what it would be like without the Bees...

Re: Without Bees...
Taking any living thing out of a food chain does effect the things above it and then tends to cause a chain reaction no matter how small it is it will end up effecting another animal and then that another etc etc. I still would kill shiz though. I'm sure there are expections which we could live without.
P.S don't flowers do the whole resperation carbon dioxide to oxygen thing too? So wouldn't that kill us and the planet off faster rofl |

Re: Without Bees...
I don't think i'd be willing to take the risk of losing flowers and relying on trees. We don't know how much the flowers convert rofl. I'd imagine it's enough of a chunk to make us go oh shi.

Re: Without Bees...
The trees/flowers/plants do do a lot of the conversions, actually. Most of it (around 90% I think) is done by protists.
I think we can go without a couple of flowers.

Re: Without Bees...
What you fail to understand is how complicated the ecosystem is. If you have ever heard of the butterfly effect, one tiny change can send the system radically out of control, and this has been mathematically proven. Of course, nothing major could come of it or the ecosystem could readjust itself but we will have no more honey for our tea : (
My solution is: Robotic Bees |

Re: Without Bees...
You'd have to create radiation-resistant robotic bees, in that case.
Also, have they made an attempt to measure how much radiation is being put out by cellular phones? |

Re: Without Bees...
Certainly four years is lower than how long we would actually survive. However, the concept is absolutely correct. Bees don't only pollinate flowers. They pollinate trees, as well. Whatever is above bees in the food chain would be hit hard, as well, causing their population to lower [and in turn, affecting the animals above those.]
Fast-forward about half a century. Lack of trees, flowers, and other plants has caused carbon emissions to build up, accelerating global warming and causing the ice caps to mostly melt. Coastlines are being flooded constantly, greatly affecting crop supplies. Most of Africa is likely dead from lack of food, because really, if America gives Africa minimal food now, how do you think we'll react when our crops are underwater? Likely, my home near the Great Lakes would be underwater, but Americans more in the Great Plains region would probably be able to grow crops enough to sustain themselves. Considering that nowhere in Western Europe is less than 50 miles from water, that would get mauled by the rising oceans. So that went on for much longer than I expected, but I'm just a doomsday prophet, I suppose. The point is, bees being gone would effin hurt. |
