Default Don't know if any of you heard about this game or not..

But it's called Legends of Kronia. It's a free 2d mmorpg and it's growing fairly well. If you have played it and havn't liked it, I suggest reconsidering. There's a new owner of the game, and him and 3 other members are steadily working on updates and items/quests all the times they are online. The level cap is 2000 as I was told from an administrator. We need more people though.

-All info in sig. www.takeforum.com/kronia for the forums. It's a new forum so there isn't much on it atm.

Maple Story is a 2D game with 3D graphics? What are you talking about.

That probably means a 2-D scroller with 3-D graphic art, like Donkey Kong Country for SNES.

LOL it was made with RPG Maker, if any of you own or tried RPG Maker, you know an RPG Maker game when you see it. i wouldnt waste my time on it if i were you. just get WoW or LOTRO is pretty fun too. free mmorpgs just plain fail....period. i have seriously played like at least 70% of the games on gameogre.com and they all suck

I like to believe most MMOGs suck for the same reason that most FPSs suck. They're just a repeat of one another. Each MMOG tries to give a game with its own story line, but in the end, it ends up being a grind fest and you never really get into the lore, giving you almost no motivation to play.

I give props to Cabal for actually trying to incorporate a story line somewhere in the game, but after a while, all the quests turned out to be, "go kill about 500 of these dudes and come back to me and I will tell you of another errand I would like you to complete because I'm far too lazy of a guard to actually do my job".

Games like WoW and LotR already have a good story to back it up and just meeting some of the figures in their respective lore is already amazing. Although meeting Thrall has almost nothing to do with any of the game-play, just standing next to him on my character gave a magical feeling. I've never played Lotr, but as far as WoW, they are constantly trying to find new ways to design quests and dungeons so it doesn't seem like a "grind" at all because you won't always be doing kill 20 of these monsters or collect 5 bear livers so that when you actually have to do them, it doesn't seem repetitive because it was the same thing you did last quest.

i completely agree with what your saying. i do have to give props for runescape though for having a pretty awesome quest system. although the game has no story line what so ever the quests were actually fun to do. even though the rest of the game was crap, except the noncombat skills were fun too, i do have to give runescape some props on questing and noncombat skills. WoW attempted with noncombat skills but im not impressed by it at all. wish more games would have questing and noncombat skills like runescape did.

There is one other MMO that massively decreased the grind because of new missions, new story arcs, new additions to the invention system, and new XP curve.
City Of Heroes is no longer a grind.

Check out Darkfall Online when it comes out. Sandbox FFA PvP MMORPG/FPS with full loot, no classes (has a UO-esque skill system), cenetered around clan warfare (see Shadowbane).
