Re: anybody here bowl?
Damn shark pattern. Pro leagues were running through town today:
190-202-185-223 I wasn't ready for shark today. Didn't find out until about 3rd game. What ball's do you guys use? Mine are el-cheapo's: Rubber and Urethane balls I picked up for $2.49 at Salvation Army XD Both are finger-tipped and just dominate for me. I still use my 3 year-old plastic Columbia 300 that I got for $80, it's my 7 pin spare ball. I use the rubber on wicked oily lanes and urethane on dryer lanes. |

Re: anybody here bowl?
I bowled in high school in Illinois. My sophmore year I averaged 185 (JV), 202 my junior year (Still JV because two of the coach's sons were on varsity with a 180 and a 182 average), and a 214 my senior year.
The coaches must not have liked me, because I averaged 214 in the year and sat the bench for sectionals; I was pissed after that. The team didn't move onto state that year even with four people over a 210 average. Piss poor coaching ruins good talent. My high game was a 286 (9/ ten strikes and then a freaking 6 count....) and high series was a 777 (high game was not in this series). I shot 555 after my first two games and then shot a 222, which I realized when adding up my scores =) I don't bowl nearly as often anymore at college because I haven't had time to with 20.5 credit hours of classes and practicing to do. I have a blue plastic ball for my spares, a solution for my strike ball (oily) and a twenty year old werewolf for dry lanes. I through straight down the second arrow and hook it in usually, but move my feet left when the lanes get dry. My dad started me bowling when I was five, and I throw pretty much the same shot he does. I've bowled for years, but would be a little rusty if I went bowling right now, probably 170 range. Well that's about it. =) |

I bowl on a league regularly but your averages put me to shame, i just started this year i have a average of about 125, i don't know how to hook the ball, was never taught and can't teach my self ( i tried, i failed xD) oh well i enjoy it a lot though. I have a high game of 167 by the way.

Re: anybody here bowl?
District tournament tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday. We bowled Monday, 182, 213, 133. I won all three games, when I should have lost that last one. I struck out from the ninth to win by three pins. We won against the other school, we're in third now.

Re: anybody here bowl?
very nice first two games
I almost had a 300 game last week. Started with the front 7 and I was "in the zone" I wasn't even nervous cause I had a sense that I was going to get it. I hit the pocket high flush and both the 8 and 10 pins were not kicked, quite unlucky but ohwell. The next game I started with 5 strikes lol. Bowled my high series last week too, I think it was like a 669? I really want a 700. |

Re: anybody here bowl?
194, 184, 213 at my schools League. It started today. I was backwards as today as well. High-Low-High games. Usually it's Low-High-Low. Highest score and average so far We were bowling on BBA league patterns. It was one of the animal patterns. Really nice day. I got a catfish (5 in a row, my team mates created a new system for naming strikes) in the last game.

Re: anybody here bowl?
Geez I haven't bowled in nearly 2 years now, used to be on my high school's team. Average was 208 my last year I believe, high game 296 (****ing hit low on the last ball and left the bucket).

Re: anybody here bowl?
sweet I went to the bowling alley tonight and I got a more reactive ball drilled for me. It will be good for those VERY wet lane conditions. It snaps like hell and that's saying a lot cause I'm a full roller
I'm going to stick to my less reactive ball most of the time/when I can which will probably be 90% of the oil patterns. |

Re: anybody here bowl?
I watched some candlepin with Tass briefly last time we met -- even among the elite, they can only hit so many pins at once. Looks incredibly difficult.

Re: anybody here bowl?
I bowled, but I'm not really good at it. I got a strike one time by doing some magic upon the ball or something.

Re: anybody here bowl?
yeah it really is, the best candlepin average is only like 130. And it's pretty random as to whether you get strikes or not. Just chuck it with a little angle in the high pocket and pray. A 300 is virtually impossible. I think the highest candlepin score ever is only like 240 or something.
