Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread
Moches,
I tried your simfile. And I have to say; For someone of my skill level, that was a little confusing. I think the steps were extremely difficult, and I couldn't really pass it. I think it was a bit jumpy. Most of my opinion is base on my skill level, which isn't as high as some people. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread
I'm looking for someone to give my newly made simfile a look, and offer some constructive criticism about it, as I'm rather new to stepping, I suppose I chose an impossible song to start out with (a piano version of fots), but my impression is that it's coming along very nice so far!
I could of course be wrong, so that's why I need some advice on it. *removed sim for now* Last edited by Darkslave; 07-4-2008 at 07:31 AM.. |

Reviews in this thread aren't supposed to be limited to detailed judgement (although they are preferable in most cases). You can demand "constructive" critiques, but can't force someone to do it. Quite simple feedback comments like "good file" "fun" "don't like it" "5/10" are also ok. Considering there are still way more submitters than reviewers in this thread, I would appreciate any feedback comments unless they are obvious flaming or something. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread
k
Statutory Ape (darph fluffy) 0.1/5 -Quit out -Please learn how to layer. It was really boring, especially with all those sounds and no steps to them. Maybe choose a better and/or easier song to step so that you can get down the basics of layering before you go for metal. -Bonus 0.1 for not obviously recording. Listen to your Heart (DDR125) 0.5/5 (Heavy Chart) -If this is supposed to be for pad, go through the entire simfile and correct patterns like crossovers. -There are sounds on the piano that you missed and even some vocal inconsistencies. -During one of the last left freezes, you step the piano as a jack when it should be a rising pattern because the piano changes pitch, so the steps should do the same. Viva La Vida (darph fluffy) 0/5 -Quit out after 2 seconds. Offsync. Learn to use Beat 0 Offset. Heart Attack (RB_IcePh0enix) 0.5/5 -Really repetitive. Difficulty is inconsistent, yet fits kind of with the song. Pick a better song next time. -16ths that go on forever aren't fun, neither are the never ending 8ths in between. Year One (foilman8805) 2/5 -More freezes in the beginning would probably have been better. Also more arrows during the freezes you did put in. -Inconsistent layering. -Repetitive as ****. Try something easier to step like some techno to get the basics of stepping down before you try metal. Try to get better at song selection, as well. Pick a song that's unique enough throughout and doesn't repeat itself 64 times in a row. -If I could get over the repetitiveness of the file, I'd say it was somewhat fun, though used a lot of generic patterns with odd layering throughout. Also try pitch relevancy. Love Cheat! (moches) 3/5 (Heavy Chart) (First reviewed file with a cdtitle, or any kind of graphics, lol) -Short version <3 -Stepped it </3 -Best file so far, but still meh. Jacks are kind of awkward and stuff. -bg is :ver distraction: My Name is Jonas (sasukekun997) 0/5 -Quit out. -Pick a song that actually has stuff to step in it. Perfect Blue (kommisar) Still awesome/5 -Probably the only file I'll keep out of all these. -Will probably play this almost everyday, it's just that ****ing awesome. Fury of the Storm Pianer (Darkslave) 0.1/5 -oh god -This is just too facepalming to take seriously. -Unreasonable trills are unreasonable -Making every arrow a jump is not called layering. Good Eats Theme Song (keiti) 0/5 -wtflol -Recorded crap with mines at wherever you feel like does not a good file make. Try actually stepping the song next time. Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread
Thanks for going through all of those songs, trumaestro.
EDIT: Alright. I hear what you're saying. Once again, thanks for taking the time to review and help me out. The next file will be much better, trust me. Last edited by foilman8805; 07-3-2008 at 05:38 PM.. |

I made a thread with this chart, but no one here has replied, so maybe I'll try here too.

Trills: Stuff like at m11, m12, m18, m19. Unreasonable because the music isn't trilling like that, so neither should the steps. Try going from m9 to m24 with pitch relevancy. Put lower notes on the left and higher notes on the right. Truthfully, though, I doubt you could make a file I'd like out of this song. Power metal to piano just doesn't work. Plus it's Dragonforce, so yeah. |

Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread
Shadowcliff: I played Oni. It was good for a first simfile, but a couple of things are bothering me here. First of all, you did not utilize consistency in your pitch relevancy and your freeze use. The speed up was actually surprisingly accurate, no problems there. Lastly, the last part after the speed up has a lot of errors rhythmically. There are no gallops. But I enjoyed this enough, keep trying.

As for pitch relevancy, I don't like to use it much because it kinda limits what patterns you can do (in my understanding of pitch relevancy, anyways). I'll keep it in mind for my next simfile, but I don't know how much I'll use it. Thanks for the review; keep an eye our for my next sim (it'll be featured in my siggy). EDIT: After playing my sim once again, I realize that I didn't include gallops at all in my Oni chart... Last edited by Shadowcliff; 07-9-2008 at 11:59 AM.. |
