Seconded. It doesn't take any more time for someone to click once more to get the file, but if I WANTED to see the simfile page before I downloaded it, then I would have to search for it on my own if the link went strait to the file.

1. In the beginning, you missed a lot of sounds. Try layering.
2. Your jumps and hands are inconsistent. Know when to use them correctly. Don't use a hand when a jump or single arrow should be used, etc.
3. What's up with the jacks? Few of them are acceptable. Don't randomly place them, but try to use them where they are technically correct.

It has potential, but your simfile needs major work. Keep persevering.
ok. first of all, i don't have to step every sound. in the beginning, i can step what i want. and i have made sure that the jacks make sense.

If you ask someone to test your file don't get all pissy when they give you fixes and you don't like them.

You might not have to step everything, but I would recommend stepping the more conspicuous sounds.

Even if the jacks made sense, they generally broke the flow of the file. Sometimes, it's better to avoid the jacks, even if they fit the music.

yeah. but if you look at the rediculously hard simfiles in ffr, they have jacks that break the flow. this is supposed to be a hard simfile. but i see what you mean

Meteo22ob - Thanks for the opinions. The offset you suggested does seem to work better. As for the difficultly level on Usatei, it was at 11 at the suggestion of my ITG-playing friends, so...oh well.

i'm thinking about submitting this to be in ffr. please judge this and tell me what i need to remove and how to improve it. I know it's a little off beat. When you download it set the offset to -0.06. just gimme advice on the chart please. also i would like to know the likelihood of it getting into FFR

Thanks Meteo22ob for the review. Yeah I just gave it a random rating because I didn't know how keyboard songs should be rated really.

I'd give one back, but I don't know what I could say other than well done on it. haha

Talking Re: "Play/Test/Judge my simfile" thread

I have just completed my first simfile. I think It's pretty good, but not perfect.

Discovered that the file can be uploaded to FFR despite changing BPM, and I have done. Only, don't try to play it on resonance because it will be way out of sync. Click to download.

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...p?songid=31030

Incase you want to know, the song is called 'Tribute' and is by Tenacious D.

Enjoy =)

i didn't see anything horribly wrong it felt a little off sync in some parts. but then again i think you should wait for someone else to play it. also i really don't like the song so my opinion is skewed.

Reviews, etc.

FORMAT:
Song Name (stepartist) (chart reviewed)

Location of Power (whoever) (oni)
-Most songs have a gap. This is no exception. Changed it by -.060 (F11 3 times). You might want to fine tune it, though.
-Not a huge fan of the song itself so far; only kinda good for stepping, too.
-Probably would've been better if the freezes to the "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" were minifreezes (1/64th in length)
-Piano in m1-m5ish could've been more PR
-LOTS of missed notes when you start stepping the percussion. Put them in.
-Definitely a 2 note 16th jack could've been put on the second beat of m13
-32nds could be put second beat of m17
-Double check freeze usage throughout. Are they on beat with what you want them to be?
-Why the 32nd in the middle of beat 2 of m32?
-Questionable layering starting beat 3 of m33
-Hands are odd.
-HUGE OPPORTUNITY FOR CLIMAX THEORY M46-54. Layer in drums and ****
-Probably better off to end the steps at m54

Sweets Time (same guy) (heavy)
-12ths. Learn them, live them, love them, use them in most of the places you have 16th streams in this file. That is all. Also a bunch of other errors.

The True of One's Whereabouts (the same guy I've been reviewing files of for the past half hour or so) (oni)
-I'm lost.
-Seriously I don't know what you're stepping to.

Castlevania Techno (cry4eternity or w/e) (oni)
-Opening 16ths are gay. Just leave as 8ths
-Looked at in editor; convinced me to try it out and play it.
-could REALLY use some minifreezes. Use your discretion as to how many and where.
-I'm a bit of a stickler for not wanting to stop hitting arrows until the end of the song; meaning I don't really like random periods of nothing. Such periods are usually short. When I step and come across a pattern like that, I usually toss in an 8th if it's reasonable. Just my preference, though. Parts like the part that's just a 16th triplet could be more interesting though.
-It's alright. It's not Thermosphere, but it's not MAX 300 v768. Mildly enjoyable.

Chemical Plant Zone (boohoo forever) (oni)
-I saw the comment on the offset; changed it to that.
-First jump has no real place being there.
-Some jumps and hands are weird. Are you sure you layered correctly the way you wanted?
-You know how I said I like to keep hitting arrows until the end? In m18, there's an absolutely perfect drum line you can step to do just that. It's just a simple pa-tsh. If you maybe had the quarters before it as hands, then have the pa-tsh be a tap and then jump (blue tap, red jump), it'd be cool. Be sure to remove the first 16th note that's there; there's no sound there and wala u did u. Also put in the grace note. (Just put a 64th before the last yellow before m19) Most of this point also goes for the parts just like it further on.
-Double check the placement of your 16ths throughout.
-DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE SOME FREEZES!!!

Kreiger (Aphex Twin blah blah blah blah blah) (Meteosomething) (heavy)
-I don't like waiting 30 billion years for steps to start and then it's only a reallly long freeze. Probably would've been better if you cut off the first 30 seconds or so.
-aphex twin/10. srsly really boring until sometime in the middle. Then it's just dumb, imho.

Romantik Escape (spider_______) (heavy)
-omg 32nd rolls at 220 bpm why aaaaaaaaaa
-Maybe use jumps on "snare" drum.
-One handed trills are icky.
-I don't really like mines, but these look alright in terms of placement.
-m43 you lapse into YNS, but it'll be REALLY hard to fix and it's just a small section so it's not really a big deal
-24600 bpm: similar and probably better effect could have been achieved with negative bpms, but this works.
-I probably would stop it sooner, but there's not really any good spot to stop at.
-Gimmicks are really cool. If you ever get a banner, be sure to note that it's an x-mod simfile.

Tribute (4_teddybears) (heavy)
-OH GOD THIS SONG IS SO IMPOSSIBLY BORING AND SLOW. It picks up, though, but I would have quit out by then.
-The only okay parts are when the music picks up. WHY NOT END AT M90 THAT WAY YOU'RE NOT BORING THE PLAYER TO DEATH AS THEY WAIT FOR THE LAST, REALLY BORING STEPS.
-Oh well, a lesson in song choice, I hope.

Trisection (Yesss.. I mean.. Anatoli) (Standard)
-m1: WHY IS THERE NOTHING THERE?????
-m12,31,etc.: 24ths or bust.
-Either of Yesssss's files are infinitely better than this. This doesn't need to be restepped for sm at all.

Yes, It certainly is a bit off in places, I have battled with the BPM for a long time To get it closer to perfection, and I know it isn't quite there. I will probably remove and improve it at some time.

Yeah, it is rather easy, but I don't think there's much more places for extra steps. Maybe more doubles but that could ruin the feel of the song so I tried not to over do it.

Yes, the BPM is very slow at the begining, but I can't help that. As you said maybe it was not a good song choice, but that depends on weather you like the song or not (I don't particularly like the song myself, I just happened to hear it at the time I wanted to make my first file!),and so I don't feel that continuing the song after M90 was a bad idea.
