I was playing today and having trouble, so wanted to try it on mirror to see if the JS was easier that way, and it turns out I've been on mirror for the last month or so without knowing XD

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
Has anyone ever tried experimenting with really high speed mods? It seems like a bad idea combined with how the engine's framerate can be sometimes, but it might feel a bit more natural to me. Downside is that it creates arrow trails/ghosting and its probably not going to help my PA at all...
I'm trying out double-ish height right now and 5.5x speedmod. Feels... different. Not sure if it's worth adjusting to, or if other combinations would be better. Anyone tried it? (hit shift, judge offset 1 >.>)

5.5x just sounds absurd under any circumstance, sheesh.

At double window height though, it's more like playing at 2.75x except really stretched... Sort of.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
I start to lose arrows because of speed at 1.75x, no way I can play at what is probably 2.75x :P
As long as it makes it easier to play, go for it. |

You stretch the window to be 2x taller (actually 3x, because it centers the game) and you get a taller viewport = more readahead space.

oh you mean this?
That would actually be pretty cool if you could make the background black and hide the transparent thing in the middle |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
Ah, yeah, mine actually does go black in that area though :/
The transparent thing is slightly annoying, but I don't find it too bad. Still not sure if this is something I should adapt to, I kind of like it but I'm also used to PAing with the smaller one now...

I really like the D3 chart, it's got the mashy parts, and the tricky rhythm parts. Pretty well balanced chart.

The sync is definitely wonky on the files right now. AJ's working on fixing them up now but that may be posing some problems for you guys.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Divisions 1, 2, & 3 Discussion Thread
D1: still very straightforward, sightread AAA, though it seemed a couple frames offsync. (D2 and 3 seem fine on that front.)
D2: first try blackflag, pretty tricky stuff but not too hard. I could AAA it, will try to this week. D3: first off, glad I didn't get eliminated at the end. Is there not a tiebreaker? I guess those are only for placing positions? Well, my first try is a whole lot messier than I was hoping, but I think I just need to warm up more first or try another day. Might try mirror as well. Compact hand patterns are tough. Edit: warmed up a little and mirror makes most of the hands a lot easier, except for the end, dropped a lot of stuff there. Should be able to do much better on a fresh day. Just got another 6 clean on Blue marine, lol. Yeah, I can't play anymore, since I already played earlier today. I'll just stop now. |
