Re: New Apartment
Yes and no -- made it over there but wasn't actually in SF itself for as long as I would have liked. A lot of the trip was spent over in Napa Valley, which was fun but damn I can't hold a drink anymore. We didn't get around to seeing a lot that we wanted so we're probably going to make another trip out there at some point.

Re: New Apartment
Wine tasting is pretty much the ONLY thing to do up in Napa. What all did you get to do in SF?
And @ Rebirth, $125k for homes doesn't sound like it's anywhere near the cheapest in the country. I have a lot of family in Louisiana and I know you can get a NICE house for around 80k. |

Re: New Apartment
Went to a bunch of restaurants between Napa and SF (Tartine, Ubuntu, The French Laundry, Ad Hoc, a bunch of vineyards, Hog Island, Little Star, some tea places, etc)

Re: New Apartment
Izzy's house is insane. I'd live there in an instant, even if I didn't have enough stuff to fill all of the rooms. It looks like it should be about 600k

Re: New Apartment
Houses like that are beautiful and fun, but if there's nothing to do nearby, it can get boring

Re: New Apartment
i'd rather have a small one bedroom flat downtown where there's a shitload of stuff to do than have a cheaper huge house out in the country.

This is why I'm moving closer to the city, I currently live in the middle of nowhere, it's AT LEAST a half hour drive in any direction to do anything worthwhile. Also @ kommi/rubix: It's not that I think the trip itself sucked, it just sucks that there is SOOOOOO MUCHHHH to do around here and you didn't really get to experience any of it. |

If I could be doing the job I have right now in Toronto I'd move in a heartbeat. I'm pretty envious of you being in nyc

Re: New Apartment
difference is I'd never work in a restaurant again. Nursing homes have a very strict health code and everything is very structured and planned in advance. I love that.
