So try to look at FFR as a way to get new bands, individuals, DJ's etc. heard by the majority of internet users. Because this way you're getting a song, and someone else might just get a foot into the door.
Ding Ding Ding...you are the winnar. I totally agree. I think FFR should help out New Artists and et cetera...and stuff.

and indeed we are doing just that Jewpin. Just taking a look at the "top list" will give you an idea of how many people have download the songs of the artists on FFR. I couldn't agree more

I am more than happy to help out new artists and they understand the mutual benefit of such a thing.

Cheers,

Someone finally understands!!!! *confetti flies and balloons rise into the sky*
Is there like a prize for this, Synth?
Keeping FFR original is 3/4 of the fun. However, if all you people want to pay the $10,000+ per song for those big-name artists so we can use them in FFR, be my guest ^_^

Personally I'm all for useing independant names. For instance, after doing the only rock stage, I now plan on getting the CellDweller album when it comes out. It's a great song. As much as I'd love to try Metallica songs and such, I think it's time for the new talent to be heard.

Default way around copyright?

just wondering, but if you were to chop out the lyrics to a song and then miz it up a little bit then is it still infringing on copyright laws? i forget exactly what programs can do it but i know that some can extract just the music and no words and i know you can use stuff like acid 4.0 to mix it a little. i mean then your basicly creating a new song it just seems to sound a lot like the corrosponding copyrighted song. except you would also have to re-name it... just a thought

I agree. I plan on getting the celldweller album, too (if I have money). New bands are very good things. FFR has helped me hear some music I might not go out of my way to listen to. And now, I do. Thanks, Synth, bprc, and everyone who's involved in some way or another!

smiley - If the material you are sampling is copyrighted then you would have to ask permission to use it.

As for extracting music and no words, that is impossible in most formats aside from a dat recording previous to a mixdown.

And as for those unsigned artists, how about more songs by those FGJ! people.. they are so cool (hahaha)

Default Mudvayne

I think it would be great if we could use some mudvayne songs. Hey, does anyone know when this is supposed to be coming out? I'm getting tired of the FFR songs we already have. After a while they get easy and stuff. :P

I don't understand why big names out there won't give you rights to use their songs for free. If anything, it would give them more publicity.

Heck, Why not make a deal with them to put one of their banners at the top of the site or something?
