Re: AIM 6.9
How do you mean? The tabbed system with them grouped according to the groups of your buddy list?
You can turn that off, or if you like tabs, you can move them around, pull them off into their own window, it's actually a pretty robust feature. I don't see how there is any problem with how the software handles multiple IMs.

Re: AIM 6.9
I find one of the few things Pigeon does better than everybody else is handle multiple IM's. It has a tabbed system, however if somebody messages you their name on the tab turns blue, and you just press Ctrl + Tab once to bring you directly to the tabs with unread messages in them in order. Also when somebody is typing their name turns green. You can also drag tabs out of the window to form their own window. No other application has this many features, and the features don't make it any more complicated at all, if not simpler depending on your preferences.
EDIT: Having them on the side or on top makes no difference, you're simple just USED to having them on the side and I bet within a few days or a week or so, you'll be fine with them on top. When I switched operating systems it annoyed the hell out of me having what you would know as the start menu on the top rather than the bottom, I got used to it and now it pisses me off when I use Windows and it's on the bottom, and I'm unable to switch that around. |

Re: AIM 6.9
Honestly the only reason we use it is because some hotshot retiree businessman got hired here and insisted that we NEEDED it for interoffice communication. I think his argument was that with AIM or YIM we'd run the risk of employees talking to existing contacts, whereas (as you've all noted) nobody uses Google Talk.
To say the least, he got fired. Or quit? I don't know, he's not here anymore. But Google Talk still is. We mainly just use it when the (overly loud) AC kicks in and we can't hear each other speak. =P

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright. And I write the blog for their website. Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O |
