What motivates us?
This is a question ive asked myself for a long time, what motivates us. Bassicly, look... we are born, we goto school, we goto college, get a job, retire, move to flordia, and then die. Thats it, i've forseen the future. Why cant we do anything else. Sometimes i sit in my computer chair, staring at the screen, going “wtf, im so bored” and nothing motivates me. But then all of the sudden, something will hit me, and ill be happy for a few days, and see life in a different perspective.
So what motivates us to do anything? Money, fame, brain impulses, 4 planets aligning in a row? I just dont know. This may not make sense to anyone else, maybe because i am very bad at explaing things, just typing them. But if you can understand, please help me out. What gets you motivated? What makes you want to wake up and do that which you want to do? For example. For a long time i have really wanted to start working out, but i am not motivated. I am starting to get chubby, but i dont want to be, yet i wont work out. I dont know if its because im lazy or what not, im just not motivated. If you think im typing nonsense, just slap me in the head a couple times, but if you can motivate me, PLEASE DO! LD WSC 4 LIFE ©

What you need is a fun way to exercise. Like DDR, or Karate, or....Wait, South Park just came on. Youre on your own.

Then the only other solution I can think of is requesting that your friends force you to do whatever you want to do.

Listening to good music motivates people. Falling in love also motivates people.

I certainly think this can vary from person to person. Religion, fame, money, and family are all decent reasons to go on with life.
For me, it's the pursuit of fun and happiness and the chance to raise a family. I only have this one life, so I'm gonna enjoy it. I try to have fun all the time and look forward to doing awesome things in the future. But what happens after college? That's when the prospect of a wife and children takes over (though the two reasons aren't mutually exclusive). But that's for my overall purpose in life... What makes me do the little things? Most likely it's some responsibility I have or to support a good image of myself (there is a limit to the amount of not caring what others think of you that you should do). I go to school because I have a responsibility to society to not be a bum and to my future family to be able to provide for them. I exercise because I want to look good to people and not have them think that I'm a slob. Then there are the things you do for fun and whatnot, but those're pretty self-explanatory. Anyway, that's me... --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

I think you and I are more alike than I thought, LD. Your last two posts have basically been reading my mind.
Anyway, I never get motivated. By never, I mean rarely. And when I do get motivated it's because like, I have to do my homework or I'll grow up to be a lazy bum housewife. I have to clean my room because I'm sick of my room being disgusting. I have to try not to be so bitchy because I hate people being mad at me. Etc. I really don't know how most people get motivated. I find it so hard to want to do anything that I just sit around all day usually moping. Unless my boyfriend's here, but that's a different story.

Just think about...what you really want in life I guess. Do you want to be fat? Do you want to be a non attractive weakling?
Then think about...the fact you CAN change that. Nothing is set in stone. Life is what you make of it, if you are willing to go out and do it. Try and set goals. Set short term, and long term ones, and work towards them. This will help you stay ontrack, and will help you feel good about yourself when you accomplish them. Try and find ways of making it fun too...get a workout buddy or someone to talk to and hang with when working out ect, or if you like being alone, listen to some good music or something that gets your energy up. After you get going, you'll start feeling better for yourself, and after you start seeing changes you'll be amazed. You'll have more confidence in yourself aswell, and will go alot farther in life with a bit of motivation . You dont need to be the most motivated person ever...but shoot for improvments.

I think what motivates anybody, no matter what the situation or action/outcome is, is the subconscious, unfaltering, never-ending, yet ultimately futile search for something better. In LD's case, the bettering of his physical being. It can be a veritable myriad of sources, but ultimately, I've found it to be the search of the result that motivates the person till the end.

Motivation is mainly society's standards or standards in general. You are driven to meet them.

If it's a life-or-death situation, you'll be motivated. It's in our genes to fight to live. If it isn't a life-or-death situation, like trying to exercise to get thin even though no one cares (I'm not saying people don't care about you lightdarkness just giving a situation), you won't be very strongly motivated and can very easily quit or not even try without much regret

You can change those 2 things easily, if you really want to. You have full control over them, because I used to be fat. Now I am in tip top condition and enjoy life much more. I'm just trying to help.

cuz you're a tank. You just look unnaturally big. That's all, i know people who take roids, you look like them. Also just cuz you're taking roids, doesn't mean you just sit there, pump up and do nothing. People who take roids usually have a hardcore workout routine accompying the drugs.
